with all the controversy with the first one, the fight being in his back yard, and the meaning of the fight, u really think cotto would've went down again and gave up?

Despite having stopped Cintron twice too and others, margo is pretty much washed up and even having the last thing a fighter loses, another fight such as Canelo-Mosley is just a waist of time. canelo is young, full of energy to unleash more than 25 punches per round. Margarito is not up to that. He's done with that orbital eye injury...

true, but i'm surprised folks are really disagreeing with this

I thought tony would be exactly what canelo is looking for, i mean the recipe sounds the same right, tony isn't any different than shame, baldomir, cintron, etc

Controversy in Cottos fragile little world, but that doesnt make it the truth, and to answer your question, He would have quit again yes, he did it again in the Pacquiao fight.
The man has quit in him when he is faced with the moment of truth both times it was obvious he was going to meet the canvas and he just stopped trying.
I do not understand how suddenly the moment Floyd and Cotto announced their bout, Suddenly Miguel was no longer a shot fighter what the **** kind of sense does that make, How do you go from being shot, to being unshot?

Then they in turn spin it around and argue Floyd fought a healthy Cotto who wasnt weight drained.
Which is bull**** as well, when Pac fought him at 145, Miguel knew he could make that safely, thats why he took the fight.
and besides Cottos a grown man he agreed to the contracted weight so why is that an issue?
What should be noted is when a fighter does challenge another fighter to a catch weight and deliberately fails to make the contracted weight agreement especially when the fighter moving up is moving up two divisions to face him.

So you tell me whats worse, catchweights in which both fighters agree and honor the contract or a catchweight agreement in which the bigger fighter doesnt even try to take the extra weight off?

Margarito would be a nice name for Canelo to hang from his belt. Any time you can match up two bad ass Mexicans the results are always explosive.

that whole "shot/unshot" is from the *****'s, shouldn't surprise u and shouldn't listen as well

while i could see what you're saying, i don't think cotto would've went down on the 2nd fight, just too much on the line, but if they were to fight a 3rd time, not in ny, i could see something else

i never thought that cotto catchweight with manny crap was anything, just people tryin to hate and doin a poor job at it

folks are quick to jump on the fact that cotto is "undefeated" according to lil floyd, yet ignore the fact that lil floyd also said that cotto lost to clottey

and of course its worse for the bigger man to agree to a catchweight and not honor it, but that's another subject

No. A semi retired disgrace like Margarito is not a suitable opponent for a champion of Canelo's caliber
