Margarito would not fare much better than Baldomir. He might win 3 rounds or so. Easy fight for PBF. Too much of a difference in skill and speed.

Margarito would handle Floyd. Floyd couldn't stop Margo's pressure and he wouldn't make him pay half as much as Cotto did. It would be a humbling night for Money May. And he will NEVER take this fight.:smoke :smoke

Too be honest I thought cotto would be able to out box margarito and win by UD but I also knew that cotto was a puncher first and a boxer second, and it showed in the fight .

From the out set of the fight you could see that cotto was not use to moving on his toe all night , he made a lot of unnecessary movement that wasted allot of his energy that worked against him .
Cotto made the same mistake against margarito as Freitas did against Corrales they moved simply to get out of harms reach which will tire anyone out ..
Floyd on the other hand moves to both tire his opponent out and set traps , he will move and counter or he will slip out the back door as his opponents is tring to land shots on him but in ether case he moves just enough get out of range and not wast energy , thats the true technique of a master boxer .

Cotto can box at a C level but he is a better puncher then he is a boxer and margarito proved that a C+ boxer is not enough to beat him.

I give margarito a chance at beating floyd but the odd are still in Floyd favor I also disagree that if floyd loses to margarito it would be huge damage to his career , you still can't erase what he has done before fighting margarito, To do so would only make Margarito win less significant.

Cotto is a better then a C boxer.. Floyd has better DEFENSE .. He relies on CLINCHING , and forearms.

but no WAY Floyd even throws as many shots as Cotto did . meaning he lands a lot less on Margo then Cotto IMO. He didnt even throw that many combos against Baldo...

Then let me refraise it for you, Cotto is a C level boxer and a A level puncher ... Cotto is not on the level as a Floyd mayweather or a Marquez he just not on that level .. Cotto gets a C+ in his boxing ability, sorry but cotto is a better puncher then he is a boxer.

Who says floyd has to throw that many shots to be effective , Chavez Sr like Floyd Jr was a precise and selective puncher who didn't wast punches, but his pressure and constant head movement allowed him the ability to mix offense and Defense fluidly which is why he didn't have to throw as many punches to be effective, Floyd on the other hand use his footwork and movement to mix his offense and defense which is he doesn't have to resort to throwing 100 of punches per rounds and it not like he can't since he makes it a practice to throw 3000 punches a work out session if not more .

beside if throwing 100 of punches per round was the end all be all of boxing , then why don't some of the greats fighters of the past share this same quality ?

Im glad you brought up the baldi fight because it show just how different floyd is compared to Cotto .

Floyd new that after the first 4 rounds of swopping punches with baldi, that Baldi was not going anywhere and switched game plans , Cotto on the other hand didn't have a second game plan and he didn't have a second gear ether .
Cotto has shown that he is always going to have issue with fighter that are stronger then he is because of his strong man style of boxing , where floyd style is based boxing and capitalizing on mistake and opportunity , Floyd never goes into a fight looking to hurt a guy with one punch , he there to out smart you.

And if you think that Floyd relies only on clinching and elbow then you have some issue personally about the man or you haven't studies his fight more closely with out a hateful eye.

Of course it won't, you probably just took it that way. All I said is that it will hurt him and hurt him BAD simply because of all the hype surrounding Margarito regarding Floyd even BEFORE he fought Cotto, after the Cotto fight it just got worse. I saw more articles regarding Mayweather than articles regarding Margarito's greatest victory, that's how insanely hyped it already is with almost 95% of articles/comments from fans and officials being negative towards Mayweather whenever Margarito is mentioned.

It will hurt Floyd and will hurt him big, might even look like Floyd's legacy will be ruined the first month or two after the loss but in the long run it sure as hell won't but for a short period of time it will be beyond horrible.

That's because he didn't have to, if he was put in a position where he had to then you would have seen them.

Ray olivera throws 100 punches per round but he is no Margarito...

Margarito has underrated skills and commits to the body, has one of the best uppercuts in the game.. hate on playa, hate on....

I think it will only be severely damaging in terms of his public opinion. In terms of legacy I think after the initial flak he would be forgiven since he's taking on big challenges against bigger men. PBF with his physique and lack of any real punching power should probably never step foot north of 140lbs realistically.

At lower weights he was much more active and less defensive. Fighting at 147 he relies mainly on potshotting to points victories and moving around the ring which makes for really boring contests. He was basically chasing money fights at higher weight classes because his natural talents allowed him to face bigger men and win.

He should probably go back to 140 and beat up rising stars like Khan moving up and Pacquiao etc. He wouldn't have any trouble making the weight and I believe those fights would be much more entertaining because he wouldn't need to move as much to win.

Right you are...but his talent would render these fights at 140 mismatches though. Floyd is right in saying he has little left to prove in boxing. I mean people who call him a coward for not cleaning out divisions 1 and 2 steps above his natural weight must be forgetting this fact. A fight with Pacquo is atrractive though...as they are both p4p stars and similar weights..
