Excellent post. This covers just about everything; however, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I just can't believe people still insist that it was fatigue or some BS excuse as to why Cotto lost to Margarito. :-(
Well you overrate Margo horribly and without any real truth.....Margo IS a great champion, but not one that Cotto can't beat. Your ignorant responses to my previous posts mean ****, and are there to exacerbate your hero, Margo.....The obvious reality is is Cotto can have a gameplan to beat Margarito, regardless of his size Cotto can beat Margo in the pocket using TIGHT circles. You can pretend that Margo can't be beaten by Cotto all you want but Cotto is elite and can certainly do what Williams and Santos have done before him.....
It amazes me how you continually talk out of your ass. All you do is post cliches, and use buzz words and phrases. How the **** is Cotto gonna do what Williams and Santos did? Newsflash, they're both much bigger than Cotto. They both could fight at MW. Cotto is basically a JWW with a weight problem. If Cotto was a better boxer, or had better defense, or a better chin, you would have a point. Unfortunately, he's doesn't. Staying close to Margo will only get Cotto beat up. His best chance would be to try to make the whole fight look like the first round. He would need to ge in his punches, then get out of there. However, I don't think he can do that for 12 rounds.
I posted this on another thread This content is protected Re: Cotto vs Margarito 2 possible for June 09 Quote: Originally Posted by Primenal Clinch, go to the body, and do the same thing he did in the first fight. This content is protected Go to the body (as you mentioned), he didn't really at all, whereas Margo did thoughout the fight effectively. What I thought Cotto would do. This content is protected Clinch more (as you said) This content is protected There were many time in the fight where he would hit Margo and cause him to pause and reset, I don't recall once in the fight where he pressed the attack off his front foot at those times. he was always fighting off the back foot moving. He has to press MArgo and see if he can make him back up at those times, or at lease press and hit him going forward to maximize his power, preferably with body work. This content is protected Re: the above even though Cotto was landing he was fighting off the back foot, not setting down on his punches, always escaping. Not breaking up Margo's rythem. Again IMHO , he may not win but, I think those changes would help his chances . Both guys are good fighters and class acts This may do it maybe not, seems we have similar thoughts though
Bigreg, I'm greatly saddened at your childish attacks on me citing cliches and buzzwords. No need to get hot headed as both of our thoughts and feelings are quite relevant The most important one I have......TIGHT CIRCLES Cheers Bigreg:good
Btw re #2 I don't think Cottos endurance is that bad, Think it had more to do with Margo relentless attack, both body and punch volume. But training at altitude certainly wouldn't hurt.
I've stated how I feel Cotto could have a better chance, as I think we all feel his gameplan was ****....Bigreg didn't have any real disputes to what I've said, merely passed them off as he had no real answer...which is fine but don't come on here claiming an elite fighter can't beat another....Margo beat Cotto as he was the better man that night, plain and simple...Thats great, Margo is a great champion, but not unbeatable and surely not unbeatable by Cotto's standards...wake the **** up already people....Cotto IS elite and can surely beat Margarito:deal
Just sit back and think for a minute. Do you remember what Williams and Goosen said when Margarito asked for an immediate rematch?? " We just beat Margarito why would we want to fight him again" You all agreed with it. Now Margarito has the right to say the same to Cotto. He didnt just beat Cotto he DESTROYED him
Cotto could win a rematch if he boxes and moves not standing with Antonio, he boxed the perfect fight for the first 6 rounds then it all went wrong.
