The state inspector who supervised Antonio Margarito's hand wrapping Jan. 24 at the Staples Center testified this morning that Margarito was found to have a suspect bandage wrap inside a knuckle pad that was to be placed atop both his fists before a title fight against Shane Mosley. Inspector Che Guevara testified that in three years and 150 hand wraps he had never seen such a pad. "It was sweat-soaked, thinner and harder in certain areas, not hard as a rock, but firm and hard," Guevara said, adding it had a stain "like old blood" on it. "It was not flexible. It was very firm." The harder pad was first discovered, Guevara said, by Mosley's trainer Nazim Richardson, who oversaw the wrapping. Margarito's taped right hand was then unwrapped, where another harder insert was found. State commissioners felt the insert in a plastic bag today. The other insert is in the hands of the state attorney general's office. The "foreign substance" on the insert has yet to be identified and won't be known until mid-March, a state official told the California State Athletic Commission at its disciplinary hearing for Margarito and his trainer Javier Capetillo.
mid-fu***ing-march????!! Why will it take so long to find out what that sh*t is??? If its plaster of paris they should just say.... Anyway, having hard "pads" like that is definately illegal and he should be fined at least..... Like Mosleey said, it's the trainer who's at fault...... Besides I wanna see Cotto-Margarito without the wraps this time and see if Cotto can beat him.
Why is this going to take until mid march, if you re use wraps after having used them in the gym if you make a pad out of bandages, and re use them they can harden up on their own the sweat just does that to the gauze. I dont know why its taking so long to confirm the substance, they should have had that done before having this hearing.
No the only thing that has been confirmed so far is that his bandages were hard, and if they had been previously used, that could be the reason they are stiff like that. There will be nothing to come of this hearing until we find out what the test results are.
Why is it taking to Mid- March to find out whats the substance on Margorito hands...I mean come on, is this **** really called for?:-(
Exactly, I dont think they should have this hearing until all of the evidence is investigated. how can you make a decision based on what they have right now?
You'll get some results as far as his punishment goes...later today. By mid-March the illegal substance will be identified.....however, the exact substance is relative....it means a lot to us fans....but in regards to the punishment....its all the same if it was brass knuckles or plaster of paris... it was illegal
