All these big ol muscular dudes have horrible chins. Bob Sapp, Brock Lesnar, and come this fight, Pudz is going to get cracked with a hard punch and crumble..
Yeah a whole 3. Who cares that Brock took Carwins shots and then subbed him in the second round. And Pudz getting TKO'ed by Silva? Disgraceful.
Brock has a HORRIBLE chin? seeing as how hes been the only person thats been able to absorb carwins punishment, period, thats a pretty bad statement. and pudz's stoppage had nothing to do with his chin that was completely stamina. Im not saying he has a good chin, but being stopped when you are totally out of gas has more to do with fatigue then it does with your chin.
I don't know if Lesnar has a glass jaw so much as he just didn't handle Carwin's power very well (which is understandable). Most other fighters would've been lights out after the punishment that Lesnar took in the Carwin fight and yet he managed to stay alive. Joe Rogan once talked about the immense power of Shane Carwin's GNP. He said that when Carwin's punches were raining down on an opponent you could actually feel the ground tremble from outside of the cage each time that he made impact. This is a guy who has witnessed many fights. Carwin is a beast. I guess my point is, when has Lesnar ever been knocked out? Not being very nimble or technically savvy in terms of defense from striking is one thing. Having a glass jaw is another.
In his last fight, when Pudz was being hit with shots by Sylvia, he looked like he was about to cry. Honestly, he doesn't have enough experience to beat Butterbean on the ground. Pudz boxing skills are atrocious, so Butterbean will land some hard shots, and Pudz will go down.
With Bob Sapp the problem isn't just his jaw. His heart isn't in fighting. He's just not built for it. The Japanese adored him as a novelty because of his sheer size so he got some fights. But size alone does not make on a fighter as people often assume.
Before you get into Brock, Carwin didn't really land **** on Brock. He landed an arm punch left uppercut, that sent Brock into full retreat, aka run for your life, mode. Then he covered up on the ground and could see every punch Carwin threw coming. Maybe Brock does have a good jaw, but he is very scared of getting hit.
I would have preferred if he stuck to WSM. May be he's bored of it? Who knows.. He looses some of his freak show appeal though now that he looks like a mere mortal.
Once you're pinned on the ground it matters not if you see the punches coming because where are you going to go anyway? It's not like boxing where you can simply dance away from the danger by side-stepping around the ring. Look what Lesnar did the Mir in their second fight. Mir saw all of those punches coming too. It's not the worst thing in the world to be "scared of getting hit" by Shane Carwin. If you don't do everything you can to avoid getting hit by Carwin it's easy to be a first round KO victim ala Frank Mir. Fighting smart can be better than fighting with your balls.
Boxing isn't simply like MMA where you can grab on to eachother for dear life to avoid being hit. You actually have to stand and fight or find away to move out of the way. If you go to the ground, especially intentionally like Brock did, it's considered a knock down, and chances are for a move like that, you would be laughed out of the sport. Imagine if Tyson's opponents/victims ran for their lives and fell on the ground? Either way, you don't get the same kind of leverage punching at someone on the ground, that you would if they would stand up and fight you like a man. If Carwin had an sense, he would have soccer kicked Lesnar in the face... Oh wait, despite this being a real fight, it's not allowed.
