hmmmm, I have to agree with Munoz, Silva is just so much better, creative on the feet and so much more skillfull than Belfort. Anderson just has to make sure he doesnt get all cocky like he has been and get too relaxed because he will get popped big time.

Its possible but doesnt seem the most likely outcome to me.

Vitor has never really been aggresive standing for prolonged periods and espeically recently has become much more of a counter puncher. You look at his career and nobody has taken him out in that fashion, he's either been slowly worn down standing or more often bullied on the ground.

I think its a mistake to relate Silva being "creative" on his feet to being a vastly superior kickboxer, while good his fundamentals are not on the level of say the very best K1 fighters for me. The "flash" he brings to fights is generally more physcological than pratical IMHO, it has often been effective in breaking people mentally and I could see the same happening to Vitor but Belfort being KOed by some crazy flying knee or reverse elbow seems unlikely to me.

I expect the fight to start pretty slowly and then either devolp into a competitive exchange of counter striking(or perhaps the odd Vitor takedown atempt mxied in) or with Vitor breaking mentally and gradually become more defencive before either losing a decision or getting TKOed(probabley by knees in the clinch agenst the fence).

Vitor will go into a shell if it gets too hairy IMO.

Its possible Vitor might land early but I disagree with Munoz that he'll start repeatly chasing Anderson down, thats never been his style.

I think this could be a very boring fight with a dramatic ending.

Belfort is going to be very defensive unless/until he lands a solid counter. Then he will become a violent beast, and end things seconds after.

If Silva avoids any significant counters from Belfort; he'll probably chop away at Belfort's lead leg, taunt excessively, and pound Belfort out when the timing is right.

If Vitor wins this one, It'll have to be on the level of Tyson/Douglas upset.

I have to disagree. Douglas was a 42 to 1 underdog that had always failed to live up to his potential. Now he and Belfort may have the never living up to your potential thing in common. However, Douglas was never as dangerous to end a fight as suddenly in boxing as Belfort can in mma. Belfort has the combination of speed and power that make him dangerous no matter who he is facing. If Belfort lands anything close to a shot like Sonnen dropped Silva with, Belfort will end Silva's reign in devastating fashion.

That said, I'll be picking Silva by 3rd round tko.

I don't think either of them are getting out of the first round. But I wouldn't hedge my bets on who.

Though I think it's also likely Anderson ends him in round 2. He's unstoppable in 1&2.

Yeah but think about this, take away the odds, Douglas was actually a bad matchup stylewise for Mike as long as sticks to his gameplan. In this one its quite the opposite, I just cant see Vitor getting in close. I wouldnt be surprised if he gets kicked in the head and become a highlight reel.

I agree with your pick. I just don't think Silva is much better than 2 to 1 for this fight.

I've heard Mark Munoz talk about other fighters before, and frankly I don't think he knows much about other people's style of fighting. I suspect he's just saying things he thinks people may want to hear.

:patsch U can't be serious? It's not like belfort is a bum. He's a former ufc light heavyweight champion and has fought the best of the best. He has loss some of them but it was against the best @ the time( liddell-ortiz-couture-sakuraba etc.

Douglas was a nobody that's why tyson took him lightly. Belfort would be one of the best opponent silva has face in his long reign as ufc champ. Belfort did KO franklin who used to rule the middleweight division b4 spider came around.
