other than pac who's suited for his style, jmm really hasn't really beaten anybody that's in their prime. he struggled badly against past it casa and mab.
He never even beat PAC also, the guy that beat PAC was Maroid. This was Marquez we just witnessed, had it been Maroid we would have seen Bardley sleeping right now.
once your legs go and your not fast on your feet , you can look ordinary, just ask roy jones and now look at jmm. and for those saying hes ordinary, NO. he is a legit HOF and ATG Mexican legend
That's why PEDnamita Marpiss will never earn the respect that the other 2 Mexican warriors (Barrera, Morales) of his day got, because he is nothing but a classless whiner. A combination of **** and PEDs may have made him delusional and the perennial cry-baby that he is! Excellent boxer yes, but a bad loser, a weakling (who gets a psychological kick from the placebo of his own ****), who'll stop at nothing (even hiring a known PEDdler and shady character in Heredia) just to get 'redemption.'
We all forget that if the belt was actually with Pac (which it rightfully should've been with, no thanks to the corrupt judges that gave Bradley the W), JMM is now the first and only Mexican to win 5 titles in 5 different divisions. Think about that for a sec before you say that he's leagues and leagues below Morales and Barrera. Don't get me wrong, I think Morales is the better fighter of the 3, but saying JMM does not belong in the same sentence as these two Mexican legends is beyond me. Styles make fights, sure, but he still KO'd Pacquiao who demolished both Barrera and Morales.
I am a huge Marquez fan but i can freely admit he lost yesterday. It was not very pretty to watch and i will probably never appreciate Bradleys fighting but it was effective and it completely disrupted JMM. That said i do think he needs to retire.... hes clearly slowing down a lot, he would still do well vs aggressive fighters but whats the point.
When i said Marpiss will never get the same RESPECT (note emphasis) as the other 2 Mexie greats of his day, it is because of his attitude and overall likeability esp. in the way he handles his losses, and the lack of that taunted Aztec-bravado in his style of fighting (compared to the aforementioned contempos, who are also good counterpunchers but with a lot of in-your-face machismo to go along with it); not on his (JMM's) ring accomplishments which is surefire ATG.
JMM was vastly overrated and it was shown last night. Glad it happened before his retirement so all the juantards are forever put in their place :good
