I see Floyd coming out first in that scenario! If he beats Hatton aswell, but can't see it happening.

Would be a good fight, however there are plenty of good fights for JMM at 135. Campbell, Juan Diaz, etc.

Why not take a great fight instead? Hopefully he faces Campbell if he can't get Hatton, but I don't know why the Campbell fight isn't happening already.

Me too. I think that's the best way of getting the best to fight the best. At 140, it is fairly equal if you ask me. Juan Diaz has expressed his desire to move up there before. Pacman will be leaner and not dipping his toe in shark-infested water (i.e Margo, Cotto, Williams (if he goes back) and Hatton can be at his best.

Marquez would be at some disadvantage over the weight, but I think his skill set brings him back into the mix with a good chance of success. He deserves a decent payday too.

Last man standing can then face the last man standing from Bradley/Torres/Holt/Ortiz etc etc

Legacies could be defined in the next year. Great fighters could go to ATG fighters. Juan Diaz could assert himself as a major force, Marquez could get the mainstream recognition he craves, Hatton could solidify himself as an ATG 140lber and Pacman could secure his place in the upper echelons of boxing history.

Or any of those guys could get a career-ending beatdown from any of the others! That's what makes 140 an interesting weight to have these fights. It's very much like Hearns/Leonard chasing Marvin Hagler. Someone who has proven his dominance at the weight but is supposedly on the slide facing (supposedly) quicker, fresher, harder-hitting rivals.

Not at all placing any of these lighter fighters into the same bracket as Hearns/Leonard/Halger/Duran but it's a similar situation. Lots of top guys chasing one common rival. In this case, it's partly fuelled by money. In those days, the Undisputed MW title was worth enough (though the money was clearly good too)

However, my head has ruled by heart now, and what we are probably going to get is DLH ruining real boxing fans chances of a spectacular year and a half of boxing.

    er

Hatton fights the winner of Pac/De La Hoya

That's it. No other options, nothing else worth considering.

Hatton himself has said he's interested in a fight with Marquez. If DLH mashes Pac up badly and Floyd SR. tells Ricky to stay at 140 and fight competitive matches rather than going for glory against a faded but clearly still dangerous fighter (whom Hatton cannot look good against) then Hatton might fight Marquez.

Anyways, I'm still hoping Pac beats DLH in style-Pac-Hatton is a genuinely competitive match which will tell all boxing fans a lot more about each fighters standing in history. If Pacman wins, he really does join that Elite group of weight-changing warriors (such as Sam Langord) and has beaten some awesome fighters in lots of different weights, without sacrificing excitement.

If Hatton wins, he would've beaten the consensous P4P no.1 and probably favourite (if he beats DLH) and Pacman will not be thought of as being blown-up (Castillo) or faded (Tszyu) as he will have proven himself effective at an even higher weight than 140 and would've just put on a career-best performance.

This is all hypothetical of course. My heart says Pacman but my head is increasingly becoming wary of his chances. I see Pacman really getting going, Lampley and Steward going crazy as he tees up on Oscar, before Oscar brings him crashing down to Earth with a big left hook.

Pacman gets up...just. as Oscar closes in Freddie Roach is already halfway into the ring.

    I think he is. :good

I have him at number two now based on his win over Barrera, his competitiveness with the so-called best fighter in the world (I thought Marquez won both), and his destruction of Casamayor at a new weight.

If JMM vs Hatton happens and JMM wins. That would be his greatest achievement. 10X's better than his win over CASA imo!

He's a heavily underdog that is why a win is 10x's better than his win over casa or mab!

How can JMM be #2 P4P when at 5'7'' and a 67" reach, he is the exact same size as Ricky Hatton yet Hatton owns him any day of the week. This applies to Pac as well, 5'6" 67" reach.

    Top 4 P4P
    Bhop
    Calzaghe
    Hatton
    Pac

Suddently everybody is a matchmaker pitting Marquez vs Hatton what a crazy idea I don't think Nacho will risk his fighter vs a top dog on a superior division. Hatton is just too strong for Marquez and will stop him like he did to castillo.

Win or loss, Pacquio is the best match for Hatton because of his fan base and exciting style. Marquez would never become #1 if Pac lose because he has never beaten the Pac in the first place.

    This is an idiotic thread!
