Marquez - Pac Faceoff Preview Looked Different

I wasn't one of those people, plus 'deserving a fight' doesn't equal 'he stands a real chance of beating Pac'. Not with Marquez clearly being on the slide and especially not at 144 lbs.

I see your point.... it is a white wash of a fight but it's EASILY promoted. The history is there...the fights were close and the first ended in contraversy. It's the whole MX vs PI rivalry....Juan Manual Marquez is a name who brings his own fanbase and following.....We don't even need to mention PAC's popularity because that in itself does big numbers...

1.3 to 1.4 million PPV buys EASY! And I agree with you that the odds will reflect just how small of a chance people are giving JMM.

 

JMM's been on the slide... Since Casa.... He was just at a weight where he could still perform. JMM's no good at any weight above 140 and his fight with Floyd proved that. So PAC's gonna take JMM out without much doubt....He won't go 12 that's for sure.

Why not? This is not the first time JMM fought at 144 lbs.

 

I disagree that the fight will sell well. I wish I were wrong. The thing is, with this fight doing not ideal that would hurt the chances of Pac-Floyd because Floyd would demand a higher purse as proof. Marquez is a little guy not too well known. Sure, you have the history but the casuals will talk about how Pac moved up and has been crushing bigger guys. Then they'll say... "Floyd crushed Marquez" while thinking that Pac would probably beat Floyd. So there logic will be "Marquez is no match for Pac at this point." They're right.

I think this fight will do about 800k buys. Maybe 1 million at the most.

LOL millions of people care about this fight. Pac's whole country cares. JMM's country cares. Boxing fans care. These two have put two of the best fights in the last ten years. Nobody cares?

 

Kellerman said during one of the recent HBO broadcasts (Gamboa-De Leon I believe) that it was very interesting when they showed footage of their two fights, and the trainers got up and repositioned their fighters to show where they would have rather had them in those moments. Juicy stuff.

 

Also, where did you see this? Just on TV?

 

I can't believe the amount of people that are dismissing JMM's chances to the point where they're actually expecting him to be knocked out. Ridiculous. Sounds like people are already attempting to downplay what would be an exceptional way of winning, should Manny do to JMM what noone else has done before.
