Maybe that's the reason right there, a huge market as yet untapped by top american fighters. If looked at this way it makes perfect sense. Also, how can no one in England know the man who ko'd Ricky Hatton?
650k ppv buys out of this. JMM isnt the biggest ppv draw and the styles wont make for too exciting of a fight. Still all hardcore fans should watch this.
I can see your point and I live in London brother but this will at least give the fans over here a chance to get to meet these fighters as some of us are not fortunate enough to be able to fly half way across the world to see this fight live. So although you do make a good point there are alot of people over here who will attend the open workout that Floyd is putting on in east london so you guys cant be so greedy to want everything to just be always in america all the time. There is other countries that do exist you know so I think its a good thing.
all i can think of is its because their promoting it as a p4p best in the world fight,so by bringin it over here, their hoping to get some mainstream press so the average fan perceives it as a mega fight&therefore will be inclined to buy it.
dickhead r u listening outside the usa most of the ppv buys come from europe so if your going to promote the fight in europe were better to go than the uk ******
These two guys might not be household names in the UK but boxing is really popular over here at the moment, so why not try to open the eyes of the fans to two of the best fighters of our era? People over here love boxing despite the fact it gets next-to-no mainstream press (outside of Hatton) and I'm sure if people are educated on Floyd and JMM they'll take an interest in this fight.
Nah, only Hatton can sell PPV's in Britain, maybe Khan as well. Two foreign fighters fighting at 4am on PPV will NOT do big business in Britain. It just won't, boxing isn't popular enough here.
They would do better to put it on normal sky without the PPV and when Pac vs Mayweather comes around then they can spin the PPV line but Floyd vs Marquez is not PPV worthy at least for over here in England. I dont think English fans would shed out to watch Floyd, if anything I think Marquez has more fans over here than Mayweather does.
im not saying the ppv numbers will be massive here all im saying is they will be alot larger than other countries outside the usa and mexico. its obvious they are trying to promote this fight as a mega fight (which they might fail in doing because of the styles of the fighters ) they will need to promote the fight in europe also. putting aside the ppv number bull**** britain has a number of ppl that love boxing itll be brilliant if we as fans get the opourtunity to see two of the best boxers in the world face to face so the question is why are ppl so against them comming to promote the fight in london its only one day not like they will be going to 5 different cities in the uk
i think the fight will be on sky sports if it was one of the top rank fighters involved then it would have been sentanta, but sentanta may still be able to show it im not sure
First off, i can't speak for all uk boxing fans, but me and my mates don't go to sleep. We stay awake drinking, paying video games, or playing poker (like we did for Hatton/Pacquiao) till the undercard/main fight starts. I don't think Sky will buy it for PPV, knowing the intrest won't be as great, there for they won't make money on PPV. Setanta have been great for boxing for the last 1-2 year/s, buying big fights that Sky won't buy and showing them live for free. So i hope Setanta buy it and show it live.
Its a weird one, doubt many will go, if both are doing a public work out seeing as i'm off work on friday i might fly or get the overnight train down for this
