He was good enough to put Pacquiao to sleep.

I've always been a pac fan since i saw him explode onto the scene when he beat Barrera, just admire his bravery, not the best boxer but he's been a blessing to boxing this last decade, fought them all, incredible resume. I've been to Vegas 4 times now to watch him fight, Hatton/Cotto/Mosley JMM 3. But this KO is what boxing is all about, just when you think you've got yer man...BANG! lights out, much like Herol Graham/Julian Jackson.

I'm convinced Marquez would'nt have got through another 2 rounds, but i never ever thought in a million years that this would happen between these 2, not even Pac KO'ng JMM, TKO maybe with the towel thrown in, but i must admit that that 3rd round knockdown shocked me to my toe nails.

But as i said earlier i've always had a big soft spot for JMM, he's such a valiant man, a true warrior & gladiator & now i hope he gets the well deserved recognition amoung the mex community as being an equal of MAB & Eric.

I will be most definetly going to Pac/Marquez 5, you can keep all yer Floyd fights, it's the likes of Pac & JMM that make this great sport of ours GREAT!! Even though i'm still numb with shock at Manny getting taken out like this, I've got to favour Manny for the return & then Manny must call it a day, too many wars, he's never been the same since Margo put the hurt on him + he should'nt be fighting at 147 anyway, lightweight or lt/Welter tops.

    Agreed. :good

Through six minutes, I had it 1-1 but was very worried.

Then after the pinball ride that was 3/4/5, all throughout the sixth I was thinking "****, my boy's getting knocked out...:verysad"

Did you ever have problems with visa waiver mate?
I only wish I'd chanced it when I had the dough for a knockback not to matter.
Outwith doing a lifer,I've got the two worst(non noncey of course!) convictions for getting in.:-(

I don't think it's fair to judge him when the fight didn't go the full 12 rounds.

He scored two knockdowns over a guy who many consider to possess an iron chin yet Juan wasn't that good? :huh

I think Marquez sacrificed rounds for one or two opportunities to hit a grand slam. As someone already stated, his gameplan changed for this fight. It's the right call. Also, a bloody nose doesn't mean anything. His nose was worse in the first fight. Yet managed to box beautifully.

JMM looked old and slow. His intelligence and patience won this fight. Intelligence prevailed over a predictable brute.

C'mon McGrain your slippin. You should know by now in just about every Marquez fight he's always losing the first 2 rounds. Going back to Diaz, even further back. And especially against such a fast starter like Pacquiao. He's always had that approach. Slightly slower yea, but his mind is pretty sharp, sharp enough to execute.

that is how deadly a counter punch is because you factor in the force coming from the opponent, I dare say its a punch even the great chinned mayweather will not get up from. Similar to pac's KO with hatton, and when donaire countered montiel.

I honestly felt Pacquiao was on his way to destroying Marquez and actually getting the KO. And then BAM, JMM lands that counter blow. Perfect shot. overall I thought Pacquiao was going to rebound from the 1st knockdown. But he ate 2 ridiculously powerful shots and the 2nd one that landed was not only hard, but an icing counter blow that knocked him the hell out. Props to the warrior JMM.

Although I agree with the majority of that good post,a broken nose can always be dangerous over 12 rounds, because you don't know how your breathing will be when you're trying to make it down the stretch

True that punch would probably put Maywether down, but Mayweather doesn't leap in like Pacquiao does. He stays balanced. That was a combination of timing and Pacquiao doing what he normally does leaping in and out. Someday Floyd will go down hard but I doubt he'll go into hibernation like that.

Yup, this was the best Pacquiao had looked in all 4 fights against him.

Well, the best he's prepped and executed a game plan. :good

Athletically his regression of late was still very much noticeable.

The signs were there for us all to see as early as the cotto fight that he was on the slide but I think his hearts not in it anymore and he just wants out but just doesn't want to let his fans down.He could have finished cotto numerous times in that fight but chose not to.
