Martin Bakole Ilunga vs. Michael Hunter & Lee McGregor vs. Thomas Essomba RBR.

Everyone was calling Hunter a bum when he lost to Usyk saying what a blow out it was( it wasnt ) now Bakole is a bum hype job who probably had an injury coming into this in a even fight leading up to the 9th round ..lol . I feel its always Virgins "R" Us in here after a fight....lol

 

The size difference was pretty big tonight and Hunter was feeing the pace in the mid rounds. I can’t see him beating any of our best HWs tbh but we’ll see.

 

The problem is hes not a big puncher. He got away with many things tonight bc of a guy whos not a sound boxer just a puncher.It was kind of reverse roles here when hunter fought Usyk, only hunter is a sound boxer.

Bakole with more fights could still be a big problem but? I don't see either making a huge impact in HW that's why I don't even have them listed top 20.

 

If any of those guys behind Joshua want a decent fight with a live opponent, Hunter is their man.

 

I had Hunter fringe top 20 before this fight.

I think he beats a lot of top 20 heavies whose careers are heading in the opposite direction.

 

Billy Nelson claims that in sparring Bakole has taken clean shots from Joshua and Dubois with no effect so it is impressive that Hunter stopped him, albeit on his feet. Don’t think it’s fair to write off Hunter’s power are HW just yet but I do feel he will be massively outsized by a few HWs out there.

 

Maybe but I wouldn't favor him over any of my list.

Hunter is a good boxer but Bakole a known puncher still hasn't even had take off yet doesn't tell me much. guys who are boxer /punchers are going to be a real challenge for Hunter. But we'll see.

 

I don't see much power. Bakole without injury and a few more fights would prove by far more difficult as would a Hunter vs Usyk HW rematch for Usyk . Its all about growth.

Bakole has never made my top 20 prospect list ,I even have Usyk as number 7 or 8 ,and that's just based on reputation too bc he has not fought one legit seasoned Hw at top level yet. I didn't put Bakole in my top 20 bc what you seen tonight,even if hunter lost im not sure Bakole proves much other then hes right at the door.

Honestly its a fight he should win with a little adjustments ,adjustments he should have had already coming into this.....bad camp and one that shows sparring doesn't wiin fights,he had Joshua for a minute and Hughie Fury which tells me hes going to take a major hit in his mental state....

Actually I did have him on someone elses but that was not mine,off hand I did include him off top of my head as you can see Bakole is not on it ,nor doesn't warrant it now .

This was my own top prospects mixed with some still lingering guys like Pulev who will be ousted if he loses to H.Fury from 4 months ago who I felt will make a run at high level outside top 10,which obviously will need readjusting but not much.

Hunter showed tremendous HEART and WILL vs Usyk as he was getting hammered in the last three rounds, knocked down in the last round but still was able to survive and Usyk has decent power.

He was outboxing Usyk in the first half of the fight, yes, rewatch the fight guys, he was winning after the first half on my card and i wasn't seeing any ghosts or something there.

Hunter for me is a potential Top 10 HW right now.

I am pretty sure he would beat many so called Top 10 HWs like Breazeale, Kownacki or Whyte. I would also give him good chances vs. guys like Jennings, Parker or Chisora. He is one of the best boxers in the whole division if it comes to pure skillset and boxing iq.

He needs to work on his stamina as he was gassing out badly vs Usyk and also gassing out today as it seems (i didn't watch the fight).

Hunter can do some damage in the HWD. No doubt.

 

I wish I had known all of this and put a few spondoolies on him.

 

Anyone know what the scorecards were before the stoppage. Wouldn’t have shocked me to see a robbery draw if it went the distance.
