Sauerland would have Murray in a heart beat Upright European fighter who throws 1- 2's, sound familiar? :yep
He was offered a fight in Canada (to get around the US visa issue) and in Monaco they turned down both offers. Keep in mind he's the WBA Interm belt holder and Golovkin's mandatory which makes it even more pathetic.
Mein Gott !! Why would he be upset about that?! On current form Sturm would slaughter him, and well he knows it. Murray is good, not great. A bizarre series of flukes led to Murray being catapulted from obscurity to top contender. (catching two big names at just the right time - Sturm going through his "couldnt care less" phase and Sergio being badly injured). Now all that is happening is a readjustment back to reality for Murray, thats all.
I thought Sturm was lucky to get away with a draw last time. Murray has a more legit beef with Sturm over a robbery than Macklin does, IMO.
I doubt that Frank will renew with the Copper Box as attendances haven't been great. As for Murray he needs to make a decision fast, either stay with Hatton or move on to Hearn or Frank. I don't think being based abroad would be an option for him.
He was offered a title shot, in fact i think i heard he was offered a chance at Qullin also, but certainly he got a chance to fight GGG for a belt and turned it down, that isn't Hatton's fault, makes me laugh thinking back at the Gloves are off MW's Murray saying to Macklin you were beat before you got in the ring ect. Well Murray hasn't even the balls to get in the ring with GGG despite being the interim champion, Yet surprisingly not a word from Murray about a potential fight with GGG. Ricky Hatton can't be faulted if Murray is scared to fight someone.
I don't think Murrayh wants any part of GGG unless it is for crazy money but to be fair it seems he didn't know about the Kid Chocolate offer until after the fact. That itself is worrying that you get offered a world title shot in your home town when you currently cannot get a US visa and you have no knowledge of it until the opportunity has passed. Absolutely crazy. Here is hoping he is just waitin out the last couple of moths of his promotional contract.
Have you re-watched both fights since? In the cold light of day you might see things differently. Most people now seem to acknowledge that Murray got a gift draw on foot of the anti-Sturm backlash arising from the Macklin robbery.
I hope youre not suggesting I'm biased in any way! I genuinely do disagree with that poster, I think he is wrong in what he said thats all...:good As for MM - I think he is good, just not a worldbeater like his fans do...:good
