Hagler wasn't shot. SRL just fought the most intelligent fight and executed it to perfection against Hagler. It was a very close fight that could have gone either way.

Harding and Del Vaulle were both destroyed by Jones, if you watched the Del Vaulle fight, you would realize Jones won every round before he was knocked down and got up and kicked his ass... Harding???? Roy worked him, what the hell are you talking about?

Post your scorecard on Tarver Jones 1, I would like to know how Tarver won that.

Also, name all the fighters off of the top of your head that fought at HW and dropped back down to take the LHW title in their very next fight.... I bet they are all Hall of Fame fighters. A great feat that gets underrated because Jones looked human for the first time.

For everyone that thinks Hagler beats RJJ, there's also a thread going where half the posters think PBF stops Hearns if it goes past three. You can go back them up if you can find it.

I'd go with Roy in this one.

I think it's a big misconception that RJ always had a glass jaw. You don't go pretty much 50-0 without taking some good shots. He even took a flush right hand from a HW and wasn't KOed cold. He was stunned for a second but recovered. Something about him having to lose that muscle and getting KOed by Tarver ruined his chin. But that wasn't always the case.

I think people are judging Jones based on the shot version of RJ and forgetting the PRIME RJ. Superman. The guy who was so good, he made fights look boring.

Good Post, Hopkins hit Jones several times with hard right hands, Toney can crack and hit him a few times... Griffin could throw a good punch, hit Jones clean many times, Ruiz was 30 lbs bigger and hit him clean in the first round with a power shot right to the side of the head, If he always had a glass jaw, he would have been down then. Tarver also Hit him with some really hard shots in the first fight, which I think that fight took away some of his punch resistance.

It is clear Roy never had an Iron Jaw, but it was average for sure in his prime before dropping back from HW.

Jones, every day of the week. In his prime he was unstoppable, and anyone that thinks the Leonard that beat Hagler was better than prime Jones is ******ed. Jones is bigger than both Hagler and Leonard and is at least as fast as Leonard was but with awesome power too. Hagler would be swinging and missing all night against prime Jones, clear UD for Roy.

I'm old enough to have seen both of them fight in their prime, and wise enough to see a blind hater, which is what you are.

Big, brave Marvin travelled alright, he travelled to London to beat sad old Alan Minter who already had a bunch of losses on his CV. Had Roy done that you'd have been squawking about him winning his title off a bum, I guarantee it. Hagler had a 'fragile British jaw' anyway, did he not?

So after that monumentous win, when did Hagler ever fight overseas again? (deathly silence follows at this point I suspect)

Jones had "hand-picked" fights yet he moved up in weight to beat Toney at 168 and everyone bar DM at 175, Ruiz at heavy and you want to give Hagler maximum credit, who's career best wins were against former welterweights and light middleweights? Words fail me.

Hagler was a great, great fighter but the disrespect for Jones is unbelievable when you consider the wavy criteria you apply to both boxers here.

hagler is one of my favorite boxers, and i think he's one of the best, but jones in his prime was absolutely in a league of his own. his only weakness is his jaw, and i think he acquired that weakness later in his career.

Jones had no chin issues until he boiled down aged 35 - Hagler retired at 32 or 33 after losing to a welterweight.

Jones got KO'd at 35 after moving up from 175 to heavy and back down again.....that pretty much tells the story.

You won't see Rico again for a few more months, he has been pretty silent around these parts ever since the erectile dysfunction ordeal.

As good as Hagler:lol::lol:.....yeh plodding awkward foot in the bucket can't box a lick is good.....gimme a break. Sugar Ray Leonard made him look the fool. Ray was a blown up old WW.......

Hate to break it to you but Hagler would never touch Jones. It would be a boring fight as Roy Jones Jr. gave Hagler a free boxing lesson. Hagler would spend the entire night plodding around with no foot work and the bitter realization that the Petronelli brothers never taught him how to cut the ring off.
