Marvin Johnson Discussion

Marvin Johnson, an all time great, would have like to see him fight prime for prime against John Conteh. Marvin had class, the two wars with Matthew Saad Muhammad were classics that I will never forget. To me he was a true warrior in that ring.

 

Marvin is one of my all time favourites. I agree the Conteh fight would've been good, for me it depends on the distance who wins as Marvin's style was perfect to beat Conteh early on, but as it progressed past 10ish, he'd start looking really bad.

My favourite fantasy match with him in is Marvin Johnson vs Yvon Durrele

 

That would have been a great fight.

 

Yay! Marvin had HEART and a NICE-ass punch. He would gas, but keep fighting. I loved him and cheered him even when he fought guys I liked a bit better, like Saad. Actually, I cheered both Saad and Marvin when they fought lol!

 

Johnson was one of the fighters I enjoyed watching the most during the late 70's thru the 80's. Always
seemed to be a good man outside the ring. Inside the ring, a warrior, win or lose always in a good
fight. When he won the championship again against undefeated L.Stewart it's one of the best
moments in boxing in my opinion

 

Great fighter, and a great guy. My buddy and I hung out with Marvin and his cousin at the IBHOF weekend this year. Guy was pure class.

 

Good call, I think they'd all spank Hill too.
