Class from Matchroom. Great to see both Matchroom and Boxxer supporting amateur boxing. We need to see more of a partnership between the amateur clubs and the top promoters professionally in the UK.

 

It's criminal how underfunded and reliant on volunteers amatuer boxing clubs are. These really are the soul of some of the more deprived estates in the country and literally for some kids the only safe place they can go to learn discipline, respect and most important of all let off some steam.

Credit to Matchroom for doing this, I'd like to see money creamed off the top of PPV events fed directly to these clubs or 10% of gate receipts going to the local area clubs of the fight location.

TV networks, promoters, fighters, local councils and the government all need to do their bit, not every boxer is coming through the Olympic cycles, give these kids the helping hand to achieve.

 

Good to see them putting Mike Costello to better use. He should be doing more than just the commentary IMHO, wasted on it in fact. If he did a DAZN boxing podcast to rival Bunce's BBC one I'd probably listen to that instead (as long as Bellew stays away from it).
