With the massive May 30th & big Manchester & Liverpool cards coming up & all the main lads being tied up one way or another.. I think it would be a brilliant idea for Hearn to use a few of the undercard slots for local small hall promoters top prospects... fans would get fresh faces (rather than the Yafais & Campbell going through some Georgian import) and would more than lilely get a better show (a lesser known fighter will give his all in front of the cameras) The kind of fighters I'm thinking of here are current commonwealth Super mid champion Blackledge , he's a lad local too Manchester, with a growing stock, whose only really known for his Fielding loss... But there's plenty too choose from.
Yes I agree, although it would be difficult with Blackledge though trying to build him up with the casuals when they hear he was KO'd so early by Fielding.
I'm not so sure it would, he fought & won the same belt that Fielding vacated , against a live & decent prospect in Liam Cameron. he's come on 10fold since that fight.. And the fact is, Hearn doesn't have many fighters in his stable who will be staying around the domestic level by the end of the year... So he will need a few I'd guess.
Yeah I agree but a casual fan is interested in someone who is unbeaten with a high KO%. AJ, Campbell and Smith are the ones doing that for Hearn at the minute. I'm not doubting that Blackledge is a decent fighter but you have to think of what a casual goes to see and that is the next 'young hope' of British boxing and someone who got KO'd early by Fielding wont be that in their eyes.
Yeh I get what u mean.. He's got his own story though has Luke too be honest, commonwealth champion with no amatuer background isn't bad at all, but yeh not marketable in the same way as The others mentioned.
Yeah his story is very much friendly to the hard core fan but a casual wouldn't give two hoots about that in my opinion.
Yeh I follow what yer saying... Only time will tell I suppose , but yeh unless you possess a Olympic medal or poster boy looks, getting a deal with Matchroom is quite a task haha
If look into his cards he does. For example he had lennox clarke jordan cooke and Michael Rooney on the brum show i know they werent on tv but non r signed to hearn so he does do it. Prime time tv with sky wil only b for hearn fighters
Haha, just thought of one against that grain though, Josh Warrington. Came on to Eddie's show against Samir (Cant spell his last name) and got the deal that way, so it can be done.
Don't think Sam Egginton is going to be an underwear model any time soon either. Ultimately you need to be able to sell tickets. If you can't you end up like Nick Blackwell - struggling to move up the ladder.
Warrington was the away fighter hearn was banking on samir to put on shows with the hull boys. Josh won got a very good title 3 fight deal and hearn put a show on its gone crazy from their. Eggington got signed cause barry loved his style and attitude.
Yes well done, you just said the exact same as what I said previously? I said that Josh came onto Eddies show.
