I dont want to disrespect anyone who laces on the gloves, but with M Hatton I feel he gets alot of oppotunities and credit (Probably due to his brother) which I often dont think he deserves.
Hes never tried to meet the best in his own country, yet ive heard him talk about world title chances. Yes I can understand him wanting to make money and rightfully so, but there are many more deserving fighters.
Hes on a run of 6 straight wins after losing to Watson for the Commonwealth title. But his wins are either against old smaller fighters or nobodies.
I am expecting some backlash from his fans, but am I on my own in thinking this, or have others said the same?

I doubt theres many that care about Matthew. He's rode the crest of a wave off the back of his brother. His career ledger is a joke and he's been given too many opportunitys to shine when he's never deserved any of them. Nice win in terms of recognised name at a Euro level but if this fight took place 10 years ago Matthew would have been toast. Anyone that thinks he's world class because of last nights performance is dilusional.

Matthew didn't deserve his shot at the Euro title, there are better fighters who actually deserve their shot who get bypassed. why would the European champion pick Matthew Hatton as an opponent, based on what????????

Ricky Hatton stated on the post fight interview ' i told Matthew to stick with it and he would get his deserts', obviously having your brother as the promoter has nothing to do with it....:D

I think most people probably echo your sentiments my friend. I actually thought Hatton was unlucky to lose to N'dou, but he did little to deserve that fight anyway, his best win was an old as hell Ted Bami and Ben Tackie and then he goes and gets a Euro shot too.

All he's done in his career is piggy back off his brother fighting trash on undercards and then getting title shots out of absolutely nowhere. People would have more respect for him if he earnt his way there beating the top Brits but he avoided that route which is exactly why he wouldn't have achieved **** without Ricky.

i thought the same thing last night, as good a boxing display as he put on, in reality, against branco in his prime, i think we are looking at a different story. He was unlucky against n'dou, and he isn't world class. But you know what, i ain't his biggest fan, but you have got admire the mans attitude, and desire. He won't be as good as his brother ever, but to take this fight at 2 weeks notice, he was in good condition. I have never seen him look like a fat ******* like his brother

Agreed he does always look in shape and took the fight at short notice, although id guess (and it is only a guess) that he must have had some idea about possibly getting the fight and doing some training.
Now hes European champ, who he going to defend against? K Brook, Senchenko, Aydin?

Don't worry, he'll not be Euro champ for long.

He'll probably make a couple of defences and then move to world level to mix it with Mosley, Mayweather, Pac etc.

He has said he's got to fight Senchenko as a mandatory next, fair play to him if he does.

if hes as good as he says he should give watson a rematch or fight John O donnel
his latest win doesnt carry much weight he beat a near 40 year old branco, whos produced some pritty dead performances of late and needs to retire

Man more nonsense commentary again during Hattons fight last night- "Had it tough during his career"... hows that then?? Coz he got schooled by Watson and beaten by very poor level of fighters?? They kept mentioning about his lack of amateur experience like that should get him bonus points. He's livin in his brothers shadow coz hes not got an ounce of Rickys ability but talks like he's always hard done by. The ndou fight was very close, the draw by no means a farce. Shame we wont get to see kell brook spark him out as theres no chance warren and hatton will do buisness right now.

Btw I think he should a huge chunk of his purse to Richard Poxon his matchmaker for gettin him that title fight, the guys workin wonders atm
