If Macklins looking for a fight to raise his profile in the US, surely he would rather be in a fight he's got the slightest chance in looking good in.

If he wins, it wont be pretty...and thats a one seriously big IF.

    Hahaha.

    Wright should take him apart.

Amazing fighter in his day BUT i reckon he'll have too much class for macklin.

did none of you guys see PW vs Winky and that was 2 years ago. This fight all depends on what Winky has left. Its fair to say he will have deteriorated since Williams and he was poor in that fight.

Yeah i think alot of that was due to inactivity and also fluctuation in weight. I agree he probably will have deteriorated by now...

The fight prior to Williams was up at Light Heavy...as you say you can't take Winky winning this as a given although if he's at a decent level i don't think he will have that much trouble with Macklin as him and Williams are to vastly different styled fighters.

Prefer the Barker fight though myself...

He was poor against Williams because Williams occupied him. You are bound to look bad against a (very) high work-rate fighter that punches from all angles when you're a bit old and past your sell by date.

Macklin's stamina does not look too hot, he's not a big puncher or a volume puncher. Wright will have plenty of time to think and outclass Macklin.

He has hardly been active since and I doubt he has been walking around at anything below 180lbs. Also how motivated will he be for an undercard fight against a no name like Macklin. His last 8 fights have been HBO main events where he is getting paid at least $1million against Williams, Hopkins, Quartey, Taylor, Solimon, Mosley twice and Trinidad.

Don't get me wrong I think Winky wins but its not the same Winky from the previous decade.

Obviouslynot but i think if he's fit and motivated he beats Macklin. Your right about his weight he walks around bloated so draining at this age and stage of career isn't good for anyone.

His jab is still in locker and i think Macklin will struggle with Wrights offense and defense. It's a lot of if's and buts and maybe's. Hopefully he's fit and motivated and ready to beat Macklin.

P-Dub was an awful stylistic matchup for an ageing, inactive Wright, and stylistically always would've been.

Macklin will pose none of these problems. Wright should beat him fairly comfortably, this is just a warm-up against someone pretty average for him.

I think Winky still has enough left to outclass Macklin. Id imagine he would outbox him to a wide win by decision. But Macklin should still take the chance if he gets it as his career seems to be going nowhere at the moment.

This is such a dissapointing fight for the once great Winky , im not sure what this fight acheives for either man , Winky has to be shot !!! NO ill rephrase that Winky is shot to bits , however i just cannot comprehend Macklin going in there and beating Winky Wright , it would be like watching Danny Williams blowing holes in Tyson its just wrong .................

On a more serious note this could be Macklins coming out party , that said i dont see it myself , i think there is enough left in the tank for Winky to make this fight a fight , still not sure what to think of it though , good fight bad fight cant decide !!!

I would of liked to have seen Winky fight Pavlik TBH

Looking like a good PPV so far

Juan Manuel Marquez vs Erik Morales (World Lightweight Championship)
Daniel Ponce DeLeon vs Jason Litzau (10x3 Super Featherweight)
Winky Wright vs Matthew Macklin (10x3 Middleweight)
