With GGG no longer fighting Andy Lee on April 24th, HBO still want to put a fight on that date and Lou Dibella is pushing for it by matching his two promoted middleweights together Macklin and Lee.

If HBO agree to the fight, it'll definately happen as there's no promotional issues to work out and both fighters have already stated they want it.

Would most likely happen in New York at Madison Square garden, athough the 5,000 theatre rather then the main arena.

    Macklin's record stands at 30 wins(20 ko's) and 5 losses.
    Lee's record stands at 31 wins(22 ko's) and 2 losses.

    Who wins?

Can't wait for Len to get into this thread to start wanking off over Macklin.

Edit: This shouldn't be in the British forum, hopefully it's deleted.

:p Im a bit surprised that a knowledgeable chap like you is even bothering to ask this question, Terminator!

Clearly Lee has little to trouble Macklin.

OK, I suppose that if Macklin was to fight with reckless disregard for defence (he has been guilty of this in the past) and was to go off at a ridiculous sprint pace in a marathon (another boo-boo of his in the past), then there is an outside chance Lee could capitalise and win.

But as long as Macklin fights with any modicum of savvy at all he should beat Andy handily enough. :thumbsup

Both of Lee's losses came to fighters(Chavez jr and Vera) who had the strength to force Andy on the backfoot and take away his jab.

I'm not sure Macklin will have that brute strength to do the same to Lee? Having said that Craig McEwan handled him with ease for the first 8 rds of their fight and had Craig not gassed would have easily beaten Andy.

I think it's a 50/50 fight. I hope Golovkin gets back into the ring soon. Hope his family is OK..............

I'm not sure there is much if a jab there in the first place that needs to be taken away, Terminator.

Also remember Lee has looked very ordinary in any number of other fights besides the three you mention. He nearly came apart towards the end against the very limited Affif Belghecham ......scuffled badly with the legendary Anto Fitz.....

There are many ways to beat Andy and brute strength is only one of them IMO.

would be a great fight...the loser of that fight would face a really long road back. I think Macklin would win, but Lee fought well until he was stopped by Chavez Jr (Chavez Jr probably weighed a ton more than Lee on fight-night). look forward to that if it got made

Shame Barker lost his title. This fight could have actually meant something Macklin wins inside 8 rounds for me
