I did this thread a while ago........ Baer and Marciano were wicked-ass punchers, but Marciano was sharper in delivering his blows... Baer tossed everything wide... Either Baer gets off first and lands his bombs early, or he gets beatdown by Marciano for a middle to late rds stoppage defeat...... :deal MR.BILL:bbb
I love Max Baer. Talented guy, funny, charismatic. But I don't think he even drops Marciano. Baer threw long, looping punches that were fairly easy to get out of the way of, and he never had the patience to outjab or outwork someone. Marciano should take an easy and unanimous decision.
How does Baer even have a chance here.... They both showed in their careers what they were made out of... One metal.. the other brass and that is being generous. You can't expect Baer to fight like the world beater he never became.. we have to imagine him fighting just like he would... In which case, he gets brutally stopped and his career may be finished.
I think this fight boils down to work rate, Max had excellent one punch power in the right hand but he would eat a lot of punches in this one....Max had an excellent chin but he may take a knee like he did with Louis...Marciano had too many guns and too much stamina, Max could hurt anyone he hit cleanly but so could Marciano and his awkward crouch and rhythm breaking style makes it a hard night for Max....stoppage for Marciano
Baer is about the same size as Rex Layne but stouter and with a heavier punch. I see a similiar result though to what Marciano did to the Bully Boy. The Rock by savage kayo in 8 rounds in a fight where he also gets lumped-up pretty good himself.
