Hell yeah! He's so biased sometimes, and sometimes he's just a @ss! I wish he would've gotten in James Toneys face like that!
Max is nothing but filler. A mouth that makes noise. Most fans that have been around for a while feel he is a bad joke. He does his best to ruin the fights but we have a mute button. I am not surprised he got his gig on the back of family connections. It really shows. Most good commentators are objective not Max. He has his guy almost every fight and pumps him like mad no matter the reality of the fight. HBO should get rid of him.
I'd rather listen to Rosie Perez announc fights then Larry Merchant. I dont get all the hate for Kellerman. Its not like Steward, Lewis or Lampley are setting the bar high lol.
True true. But he just gets on my nerves, its like he picks a fighter he wants to give a hard time and he just continues to give that fighter a hard time until the show is over, even if that fighter wins & does everything right.
The bold part is pure truth. That was my whole motive for bringing up Pavlik/Lockett. In the year prior to that KP fought Zertuche, Miranda, and Taylor X 2, but this ******* with ears asks, "How much longer can you go on fighting the Gary Locketts of the world." What a twat.
I know, thats why I nailed it right on the spot. I found that funny when he asked that, and I expected Pavlik to at least reply by defending his performance against Rocket Locket, but he just kept going with the flow like he didnt recognize Keller trynna diss. But I was laughing when Kellerman asked that question. :rofl. Man I wish he would ever step to James Toney like that.
Even if you are of the (highly contested on these forums) opinion that Tony avoided a Williams rematch, how does that make Max's statement any less moronic? You consider Dzindziruk a bum? Why? How does pointing out the flaws in Max's statements make me a biased fan of the fighters that clearly represent how foolish that statement is, by calling out Williams? Your post lacks any real logic and must be based in an emotional connection to Williams. I am not knocking the talent of Paul Williams or trying to slight it in any way. He has given some great performances. That in no way makes three freaking divisions frozen in fear!!! Max needs to be DUMPED. He thinks he needs to dumb down everything to sell it to the casual fan. This isn't professional wrestling. There is a way to hype things up as an announcer but still keep things reality based. Now, I don't think you need to be some sort of boxing scholar, necessarily, to do a great job. I don't know for sure, but I doubt Lampley was some boxing historian before he got the gig. Lampley has made his share of errors and said silly and sometimes inaccurate things, but Kellerman is, well, demented, is, I think the best word. Its like, the weaker the truth is behind the statement he wants to make, the stronger he has to make the statement. I find it very insulting as a boxing fan.
Oh no, I do. I would like to think I complain about BS no matter the color or shape of it or who says it. I believe it was Lamps who, during Barrera vs Pacquiao 2, said something like, "now keep in mind that Barrera actually knocked Pacquiao down in the first fight!!!" He was clearly trying to give the perception that Barrera was dangerous, but the statment was clearly misleading considering that that kd was bs. But Lampley's is great at building excitement and comes up with many intelligent observations as well as plenty of mediocre ones, but thats OK. He is GREAT in my opinion, at being a hype man, he is genuinely excited about the fights. Now some would say he skews his percpetions for the house fighter and there is a lot of meat to that argument, however he is a helluva site better than Max. I shudder to think at the assanine statements we are going to have to put up with from this jerk over the years to come MINUS the redeeming qualities of Lampley or Merchant.
that is a great analogy. three divisions frozen in fear. jesus h what a stupid and exaggerated statement made to cover up his lack of ability to accurately describe Paul Williams place in boxing right now.
Oh yeah. Somebody is going to bite his head off and I can't wait. Yeah he can do that **** to a laid back guy like Pavlik but wait until he brings his assasinine and intentional exaggerations to somebody who will **** back on him. We ought to grab Jim Grey and Max Kellerman and all the sanctioning bodies personnel and eject them all into space.
Exactly. What an ass. It wouldn't be so bad if he prefaced by bringing up Pavlik's strong resume but that would deflate Max's stupid and loaded question, if he brought up the truth. Many of Max's brash statements lose all their steam under the microscope. He is much fluff and little substance.
Yeah I can remember but this one has to take the cake. Frozen in Fear. That is what Kellerman looks like sometimes when he is about to unload some stupid loaded question to a boxer or when he goes back to look into the camera with his eyeballs about to burst. Max eyeballs frozen in fear Kellerman. I guess what really ticked me off is that before I watched this broadcast I was thinking about all the **** he said about everyone being afraid of Paul Williams and I thought to myself, well surely, we won't have to hear that **** again after that argument has been dismantled by other boxers and sure as **** he gets the freaking broadcast started with that crap.
