I think the smaller and less experienced Crusierweight version of Evander would be a good fight with Schmeling and more evenly sized. But the heavyweight version from 1988 to about 1999? Nah...
Yes. The way Toney stopped Eeeevander by body punching would be a picnick compared to Walkers left hand. Schmeling was one of the great straight right punchers. Evander was an accumulation guy. Schmeling was a ring genious. And btw Joe Louis could beat and knockout any heavyweight whoever lived. Regardless of size, you queenies. He was by far the greatest Heavyweight Champion of the World in history. You guys are a trip.
Yet he did lose to Michael Moorer, John Ruiz, and James Toney Stribling had over 280 fights, and fought over 1600 rounds, significantly more than Greb, and only knocked out by Schmeling.
Holyfield was 38 for the one Ruiz fight he lost out of the trio and 40 when he lost to Toney.Want to speculate how Schmeling would have performed at that age against them?
Holyfield's being vastly undersold by some here. His boxing skills dwarf Schmeling's. Max has some good wins, and shown intangibles, but Holyfield over his career proved much more in both area's. His countering skills and fundamentals are levels above Max's. Max would be able to land his right on Holyfield, and would probably try and steer Holyfield onto them, but he isn't stopping Holyfield, or getting past Holyfield's artillery enough to survive or take a decision. If he wants to win in 3/4 rounds, he would. If he wants to box for a while and come in with flurries and take his time, he would. Schmeling, for all of his might, just ain't got a patch on Vander
Anybody who wants to use a 40 years old Holyfield's loss against Toney as a sound basis for picking Schmeling over Evander is either a troll or a fool. So,which are you? lol Schmeling was no ring genius, he was a fine counter puncher who needed time to throw his shots, Holyfield would not give him that time. Schmeling's winning resume isn't particularly impressive,he has one win over a great heavyweight who went into that fight cocky, overconfident, and woefully unprepared. Louis emphatically put things right in the rematch. I've been following boxing for 60 years practised it for over 20, and have an extensive film and book library on it .I'm certainly no expert, many here can educate me, and have on occasion, but I don't think a mouthy gob shite like you is ever going to teach me anything about it! ps Posting in oversize print doesn't make your post any more cogent,or accurate,it just makes you look rather petulant, like a child who has spat out their dummy while having a strop.
It's literally just facts. Greb fought a bit over 1,000 rounds in his career, Stribling fought over 1,600!
Greb fought way more rounds than Stribling! The number (1004) listed for Greb on BoxRec does not include the rounds from his many ND fights.
Greb fought 300 fights. Did they end on an average of 3 rounds each? I didn't know he was such a power puncher.
Woops, my bad. Adding in NDs, best I can tell Young Stribling is at 2061 rounds. Greb is at 2591. But I probably made a mistake adding all that up Do'h
