yea cause he can fight Tszyu when he (Hatton) is a nobody (relatively) and if he loses its not the end of the world. He can fight Mayweather and if he loses its not the end of the world. But if he fights Witter and loses his career takes a big blow. The concept of risk/reward. Obviously if this story is true then Hatton thinks Witter is a pretty big risk and not enough reward which in a way can be perceived as ducking especially if Witter is agreeing to take a much smaller purse than he is worth.
bull**** Lezcano means **** here in the US we are wise to this stuation and we want Witter or Torres, we are aware of the stuff Rick is pulling he whined about fighting PBF and got his shot why not give his countryman a shot.....Hattons ducking is so obvious he is losing repect bigtime here in the US and I cant see how you can be a Hatton supporter and prefer Malinaggi or a stiff like Lezcano.
Is Hatton the first fighter to avoid a high risk - NO REWARD opponent? Buy a brain. Weather you like it or not, there is a buisness side to boxing.
indeed, and it's noticeable how many Hatton fans on here are now turning on the guy they used to back at all costs. They've been duped, and they now know it. Shame they didn't listen years ago.
no he's not, and he will rightly be bracketed with Bowe (Lennox) and others as having chickened out. In many ways Hatton's is worse, it's been going on for years and he's had a ton of excuses. There's a history between them that many just don't know about.
risk/reward. witter is a big risk, if hatton loses that one fight his career is in tatters. like the above fighter said, losing to zoo or floyd wouldn't be the end of the world as they were/are at the top of the sport. losing to a domestic based, fairly unknown abroad fighter would be a massive blow to his career and witter has just the style to pull it off... :yep
If marketed correctly, I think Hatton v Witter in the UK would be a huge success, they could take it to the extreme and say winner takes all? I have a feeling Witter would consider that but Hatton wouldn't (pure speculation of course). I personally think Hatton isn't afraid of Witter per se but is afraid of the risk of not even being the best lightweight in the UK if the fight were to not go his way. (apologies to PluginBabies, I'm gonna change this avatar in a mo)
How can Hatton v Witter not be worthwile? He (Witter) has one of the top 3 belts!!! That alone makes it worhwhile. And I cant see how such a fight in the UK cannot be a seller? Even HBO must see a world title fight as a goer?
hatton should have fought him long before this!! witter is a genuine threat althugh i think hatton would win.
