I am not sure why Pacman had to have this fight to get that fight and Floyd didn't have to. Will beating Broner really make the fight more marketable? They are two big names at a time when boxing is not at the best place yet I think it is getting better. Canelo and GGG and the heavyweights are what is making it better now. I do think Mikey Garcia has a chance against Spence.
Leonard was 34 when he fought Norris. Those guys moved up too much. Manny is fighting well, although who has he really beaten in the last few years. This last fight made him look good because he wiped out Matthysse.
I was absolutely desperate for Mayweather-Pacquiao I in 2009 / 2010. By the end of 2011, I was starting to feel it had missed its chance to be as great and significant a fight as Hearns-Leonard I, but I still really hoped it would happen. By the end of 2012, it was obvious that Pac was going over the hill and it wouldn't be much of a fight, but hey, I still thought it should happen soon to draw a line under the whole pathetic saga. But by 2015 I honestly didn't care. It was just a bloated caricature of the hugely significant event in the sport's history it would have been four or five years earlier. We had to pretend we were excited and intrigued by the possible outcomes, after the two of them had rinsed the fans for years. I'm sick of the pair of them. They need the go away. The Mayweather / Pacquiao era is done. Who the hell wants to see this garbage again?
