Is he that much of a loss when you factor in that he hadn't fought for them since April 2010? To me as long as Strikeforce has Diaz and the heavyweights they're fine.
Mayhem Vs Maeia, Sonnen, Bisping (!), Akiyama, Stann, are all good fights. Silva, no. I don't think he has any intention of going back to 170 does he??
No he doesn't. He's staying at 185 but open to fight at 205. I'd also like it to be known that GSP did win the fight against Miller, however, it was a young inexperienced Mayhem. I'm not saying he'd win today I'm just pointing out he did an excellent job even then when GSP was destroying everybody. With his talents he'll make a great addition to the division.
I can't wait to see his entrance in the UFC. Mayhem is awesome. I'd love to see Mayhem vs. Bisping. If he fought Anderson Silva though... jesus christ that fight would be so exciting. Imagine the weigh in and the fighter entrances and ****. God it'd be awesome.
I would definitely like to see what he has on the ground with Silva. I think Mayhem is good enough and relentless enough to keep Silva down and he's not exactly the toughest to get on the mat, injury or not. As many times he has overcome the odds against fighters like Henderson or Sonnen, I still think it's a matter of getting that guy down and doing your business and not letting him up consistently. You can do it for four rounds but if you drop the ball in the last, you're an idiot. He'll get stronger and stronger every round that passes, but get him on your back and get some submission defence and you're halfway there. I think Mayhem sports a real good chance, he isn't overly strong though which could go against him. You'd think a fighter like Marquardt would have a better chance if he got Silva down. He's got more strength, I feel. Mayhem has focus issues too.
If Mayhem wanted to keep Silva down, he'd stay down. There wouldn't be any last minute submission **** either because quite frankly, Mayhem has probably the best submission defense in the game.
Me and my mate were talking about this this morning. TUF Mayhem v Sonnen has got television gold written all over it. It doesn't even matter if all the contestants are This content is protected , it would be a banker for greatest season ever.
It looks like you just said Silva is not a good fight unless Mayhem is planning on fighting at 170 again. Do you mean Silva is not a good fight, and also inquire about Mayhem's wishes to move down in weight? Or did you just mix up the weight divisions? If so, it was an honest mistake. I'm just curious as to why you wouldn't want to see him against Silva.
