Styles make fights. Mayorga is a rough tough brawler that made a career out of taking fighters with sharper skills out of their game. Shane KO'd iron chinned Mayorga with seconds to go in the twelfth round. Mayweather couldn't even stop lightweight Juan Manuel Marquez who skipped up two divisions to fight him.
Cotto had nothing left. Mosley was putting to much pressure. He didn't gave up rounds...he lost them.
Being a true fan has gotten me abused alot on the forums, again I do not need to lie, when it comes to the sport I love the sport period. some just dont see it that way, and tend to buy into the hype rather than looking at the sport as a whole.
yeah. Very close fight. One more round and who knows... Still, i never thought Mosley was robbed. Close fights are not robbery... Props to Cotto in that fight.
I like the fact you mentioned that Shane "winds up" for that right hand. I mentioned this before in another forum. Shane, though he punches with great speed, tends to load up for just about every punch he throws, thus in a way telegraphing his punches. For a fighter with defensive instinct and reflexes as Floyd, it should be relatively easy to either get out of the way or brace for impact. If Shane believes he is going to knock Floyd out as he claims he will, he is simply delusional and underestimating his opponent; Which is already revealing itself as his weakness approaching this fight. Floyd never underestimates his opponent(in some cases over-estimates them) and this works in his favor. Shane is the type guy that tends to get discouraged when things aren't going his way in the ring, and things really are not gonna go his way in that fight if he's looking for a knockout. Nobody's gonna knock out Floyd by trying to 'overpower' him. You either need to capitalize on his mistakes(which he makes very few of defensively), and/or catch him with something unexpected.
good post. I think its a closer fight than what most people think but yeah, i agree with the main idea.
Okay, let's not get ahead of ourselves. This ain't a blown up featherweight that has no speed or power at 147. Even tho I'm going for Mosley, Floyd's defense, speed, and jab should get him ahead for a decision win, BUT like Mayweather has his advantages, Mosley has his with his power. Floyd might be the faster, but not by much. Whether he is winning or losing, Mosley will put on an entertaining show. Most importantly, Mosley is the man at WW so if Floyd beats him, then not only will Floyd have his biggest career win, but he becomes p4p #1, taking it away from the Pacman.
Mosley's only chance is to land something big, imho. Floyd's too fast on his feet and far to cleaver for Shane to be able to box with. At some point I envision Shane selling out with a full fledged attack once desperation sinks in. Depending on how crazy the pre-fight build up gets, this could be Mosley's dispostion early in the fight.
Agreed. But Mosley won't lose every round. He'll look good some rounds but Floyd will beat him convincingly by UD :deal
You seem to let your imaginiation get the best of you. This is a competitive fight if I've ever heard of one. Shane Mosley has almost equal speed to Floyd Mayweather, more power, a longer reach and a better chin. I give Mayweather a clear advantage in the reflexes department, of course. Mosley has more experience and has been in with the better opposition and that is saying something considering his opponent is Mayweather. I think we are in store for a good, possibly great fight. I will be rooting for Mosley, though I pick Mayweather to win a decision in a hard-fought battle. I am very excited about this one.
So Shane losing means Pacs not P4P no1 , how the hell did you come up with that one fruitcake??? ***** ALERT
Mosley is one of the top fighters in the Welterweight division, but I expect Floyd to outbox him to a decision. That says more about Floyd's ability than any lack of ability on Mosley's part.
