So why the lol icon? You just wanted to rile Floyd's fans up with your warped sense of lunacy right? At least Floyd hasn't ever used plaster or got knocked unconscious, lmao.

I dislike Floyd very much but he used to go toe to toe pretty well will have to admit. With the weight increases and opponents power he's obviously weary of doing this now though because he probably wont get away with it vs. some of his past opponents. I remember he finally stuck and went toe to toe with oscar in the last 5 seconds of the 12th round, when Oscar got the better of it and landed a left hook finally, but his power was gone by then and floyd knew it and tried to give the fans an exciting finish.

You say "just" boxer punchers. I don't think that classifying them as boxer punchers is a knock to them. That's how I see them. I also don't subscribe to the standard that yesteryear fighters are better than current fighters. I am a fan of fighters of all generations.

BTW, Floyd has fought in a more fan friendly way or brawling style if you will, but he doesn't NEED to.

I don't think that Leonard or Duran match Floyd technically, this is of course a matter of subjectivity. Why do you downgrade Floyd for being so much better than his contemporaries? "They also hit much harder than anybody he's faced.", what are you basing this on?

    KO percentanges for example
    Sugar Ray Leonard 62.5%
    Roberto Duran 57%
    Mosley 69%
    Cotto 73%

"Can Floyd change style if needed? I dont think he can, not against those guys."

    He might not need to.

Fair enough on the box puncher point but I feel they were more dynamic than that.
To me boxers of old are better than today so i disagree on that point as well.

I think it's without question that Duran was technically all round a better boxer than Mayweather and he proved it against better fighters. Duran had more to his skill set. He was arguably the best at employing faints we've seen on film. His footwork and balance was so good he could integrate offence and defence seamlessly and is considered the GOAT in that regard. Tremendous defence and showed it whilst moving forward, backward, past his best and against naturally larger fighters. He could throw every single punch in the book with devastating power and accuracy. He had better punch variation and better upper body movement.
I'm not saying he's better than Floyd in every dept but he sure as hell was more skilled all round.

Higher KO Percentages mean nothing if the opposition isn't on par. Do you really believe Cotto and Mosley hit harder than Duran and Leonard because of they statistics? Could Mosley or Cotto flatten much bigger men like Barkley?

Floyd might not need to change style but I feel he would be forced to. Duran, Leonard, Hearns and Robinson are 4 of the best offensive greats of all time. They have attributes Floyds defence has never ever seen before and the athleticism to match Floyd.

I can list a bunch of things that Floyd does to argue my point of Floyd's technical superiority i.e. 6th sense like defense, highly educated footwork that allows him to get in offensive position and out of danger, punch selection, counter punching(Duran was a great counter puncher too), atg timing, Floyd's feints aint too shabby either, etc.

Im not saying that Cotto and Mosley are harder hitters than Duran/Leonard/Hagler/Hearns, but I can not concede that Mayweather would not be able to handle their power. I think that Mayweather beats Duran and Leonard fighting the way he currently fights. No need to change his style.

The better part of our arguments are a matter of opinion.

I feel Floyd's defence looks so good because he's fighting these flat footed box punchers like Canello, Cotto, etc. Those guys are easy money for Floyd. Duran for example has superior athleticism, footwork, IQ and skill to those guys. He would bob and faint his way inside he was very clever at that. Floyd wouldn't be able to read Duran like he did Canello and he wouldn't be able to pot shot as easy on Duran as Duran like Floyd also has ATG defence. As proven in this vid = (start vid at 7.15) http://youtu.be/F5Pw2elzBik

I think Hearns would spark Floyd. Stylistic nightmare for Floyd.

I respect your opinion and your right it's mostly subjective. I'm not knocking Floyd. He's the best of his era and a top 30 ATG right now imo. I'm always in awe watching him. It's just a pity he wasn't in a better era where his skills would truly be tested.

Sugar Ray would outclass Floyd and probably stop him. Floyd can't deal with that type of speed and power. His Reflex's look superb but thats against guys with half the speed Sugar had. With that said a prime 147 Mosley could take a UD also, possible KO.
