Mayweather cleaning out Welterweight Division

beat mosley and pacquiao, thats all he needs to do... hes got nothing to prove after beating the best.. i guess he could unify all the belts but as freddie roach says, "belts are overrated"

 

the only thing joyboy is cleaning out is the wallets of anybody dumb enough to pay for his fights

 

Very true.

All he's ever had to do is face the toughest challengers of the day, yet he refuses...he has refused to make the fights the public genuinely demands for the past 8 years. Yet, he is a very wealthy man...why would he do anything differently now?

 

Mayweather offerd fights to Margo which Arum turned down because he need him to fight on another PPV date. Cotto which Cotto/Arum turned down because they said he was not ready. Mosley which Mosley turned down because he wanted to take a vacation, get his teeth fixed, and as rumors go stay out of the way of DLH. Mayweathe was in negociations again to fight Margo, Cotto, Hatton, DLH. Arum didn't want to agree to the contract in which Mayweather was guranteed 8, 10, 10, 20 in a 4-5 fight deal. Instead Arum wanted 8, 7, 7 and didn't even want to make the DLH fight. Mayweather then left Arum so that he could eventually make the DLH fight.

On the flip side. Mayweather had the opporunity to fight Margo but choose Baldo, though Mayweather was really looking to fight Mosley. And he had the opportunity to fight Cotto instead of Hatton, and Mosley instead of JMM.

Mayweather would have fought all these guys if they would have agreed to fight him when he first asked them. At the same time when they decided that they wanted to fight Mayweather, he choose to ignore them and fight other fighters.

I don't believe its as simple as Mayweather just being scared to fight these guys and ducking welterweights as people claim and conveniently ignore that Mayweather did in fact try to arrange fights with them but was shot down by each one of them as well as shoot them down himself.

 

never fought the best in the division, left out Mosley when he was the best, left out Cotto when he was considered the best, left out Margarito when he was considered the best, left out Williams when he was considered the best and now skips over Pacquiao... are you serious dude ?

 

Brother, a lot of fighters have "outbid" their way out of making tough match-ups happen. This is an old bargaining trick that promoters use to increase their fighters' market value.

Mayweather is easily the guy with the most skills to be an ATG high on the list, but chose to make money over winning meaningful fights. However, I didn't even hate him for that until his entourage started to witchhunt a guy that surpassed him in the public image, just to tear him down without fighting.

Floyd is NOT the best WW today b/c Shane is.....but if they fight that will make it clear who is the best or who is "tha man". Floyd is P4P King or he shares that spot with Manny at the moment ....maybe in spot two. But I see your point. He's undefeated....which is why most consider him to be the best. At least he is stepping up in challenges with shane.

 

I have tons of respect for Floyd abilities and he can certainly clean out the WW division but I don't think it's possible only because i don't expect him to fight the best fighters in that division.

Could, would, should. Greatness isn't measured by what a person can do. It''s what he did and how he did it.

Just do it Floyd. You'll loose a lot of fans if you **** up the Mosley fight,, after ****ing up the pac fight. No excuses. Only a few will buy your reasons again.

 

He's not. I thought the Mosley negotiations were going to go smoothly since Top Rank isn't involved but we still haven't heard anything. I have a bad feeling but we'll see - if he dont fight Mosley, then Mayweather will be known as a fake.

 

He'd gain back my respect.
