Is there still any interest in this fight? Obviously, Cotto would have to rack up some wins against other name fighters first but I thought Cotto didn't do that bad against Mayweather where he was outclassed. He busted up Mayweather more than we've ever seen him and the fight would sell well with the PR support of Cotto.

This would be an absolute waste of a fight for Floyd in his Showtime contract.
    Besides... Didn't Cotto just re-up w/Top Rank??

why would it be a waste? It's a huge money fight for the network, for floyd, and for Cotto

I would be cool with it IF:

    A) Cotto wins a couple fights beforehand and at least one "big" fight.

    B) There are no other options that stand out as particularly better.

    C) Mayweather decides to campaign at JMW rather than WW, as no one other than Lara at JMW does anything for his resume really, and Lara isn't anything legendary either.

Cotto needs to go back down to 147. He beats a couple of top tier guys there he could be a viable option

Cotto is viewed as a past it fighter. This fight would have be great if they rematched immediately but now no way. Mayweather would just make cotto look bad, I don't believe cotto could even be Competitive now that Floyd's back with his dad. Floyd that fought cotto wasn't at his best and got hit too much, he's not letting that happen again.

Agree with most of you BUT there aren't many fights left for Floyd and Cotto is still a name and more importantly one of the few who bloodied Mayweather. Most people believe Cotto gave Maywether a harder fight than either Guerrero or Alvarez. Hard to argue with them. As long as it brings PPV number, SHO will consider it and I believe it will happen.

I agree, cotto took it to Floyd better then canelo and Guerrero could imagine. The version of Floyd that fought canelo schools cotto and doesn't get touched. Yes cotto is a name, but we all know the outcome of the fight and in my opinion would be a clear robbery of our hard earned money to try to sell this fight again.
