I agree that he's playing it cool, and he must be concerned about Canelo's fight night weight.

But what I'm saying is, having Canelo come in at 152, isn't going to stop him from rehydrating by a huge amount, like he did against Trout.

There's a chance, that because of the extra 2 pounds he's dropping, he may even come in heavier on the night than he did against Trout.

So my point is, Floyd making him go to 152, won't make Canelo weigh less on the night.

Therefore, there was no purpose in making it 152.

Unless, he's hoping that Canelo will struggle to make 152, and he won't be 100%

But I think he's made a mistake, for a number of reasons.

    Such as:

    1. Again, Canelo may rehydrate by more than what he normally does.

    2. Canelo's trained harder with a nutritionist, and if he hasn't struggled, he may be stronger and faster.

    3. It's probably made Canelo more determined.

    4. Floyd's not going to gain maximum credit if he wins.

    5. Floyd's opened himself up to criticism, by contradicting himself.

So in my opinion, Floyd should have just fought him at 154.

i'm a floyd fan....but more importantly i am a boxing fan. floyd, in the grand scheme of things, is not bigger than boxing. he's definitely not the greatest of all time. he is the best of his era....but that's not really saying much.

boxing at it's best is when we don't know for certain who will win. the greatest combatants in my beloved sport defied the odds. floyd taking on a kid still wet behind the ears who has questionable wins and barely fights one minute of every round is cheapened by this whole catchweight thing. i was excited about this fight initially. floyd shot himself in the foot with this ****. i'm more excited about molina/smith and garcia/matthysse than anything. i'll be watching floyd do his thing...and if it goes as i expect it to...he's going to school this kid. that's nothing to celebrate because it's expected.

i actually believe it was floyd sr who influenced jr on the catchweight thing. floyd sr was adamant about canelo fighting at 147. whatever the case....no one put a gun to canelo's head. he signed the contract.

Dawson said "168 or CW", and when his team asked for 172 in negotiations, Ward demanded 168. Ward clearly wanted to drain Dawson as Floyd does now.

They did in a sense. Because we all know that if Canelo hadn't conceded, then they wouldn't be a fight on Saturday.

If Canelo had've walked away from negotiations, then Floyd's moronic fans who defend all of his actions, would have blamed Canelo for the fight not being signed.

Who mentioned soccer in this thread? Which BTW is the worlds biggest sport, and we are on of the best:hi:

But i understand you can't spill out a reasonable argument, so just start talk about something complete different.

if you call out a champion....u don't make him come in at a catchweight. u meet him on his terms.

that isn't to say what floyd is doing is right...because i don't believe it is. if he hadn't talked all that **** about catchweights...this might not even be an issue now. point is...the wbc title is at stake. it's the 154 lb title....not the 152.

you do know that Canelo won his title for a catch weight 150 fight and didnt even make weight :lol:

so if it won it at 150, he can lose it at 152:happy

Wonder if some part of it is Floyd "flexing" after the deal where Canelo refused to fight on the Guerrero card unless May signed a guarantee and ****?

    :think

    **** it though either way
