This is like describing the mechanics of a shooter with: 'He squeezes the trigger before the bullet comes out.' As said though, its virtually unexploitable and if you spend your time watching for it youre just going to get knocked out anyway. Someone pointed out that he also leans forward, which is true, he does. So does Rigondeaux, its an deceptive tactic to make you think he is in range to be hit, when infact, he isn't and youre about to eat a hard counter OR a hard Right(from Floyd) or a hard nightmare left (from Rigondeaux) both of whom are already moving after the punch is thrown.
Not quite, pivoting off the foot is not the same as cocking it first. But I agree with the rest of your post.
Haha, well you are already respected around these boards for your boxing analyzing knowledge. A cookie for this is beneath you.
The other stuff don't mean as much as they are variable. The only thing that he does that never fails is **** his right foot. But he does it a split second before he fires off so its not possible to read it. Its more for viewers to acknowledge then an opponent.
Yes, I see what you mean. There are a few other things Floyd does in the ring as the fight goes on that Ive noticed after watching his fights over and over again. Im a little nervous about mentioning them though, I wouldn't want people somehow figuring out how to get the information to THE ENEMY. Floyd has several Kung Fu moves in his arsenal, and Boxing Kata's that he does throughout different portions of the fight as it progresses. Its irregular, but definitely prevelant. One of them being towards the end of the mid rounds, Floyd starts testing his opponents anxiousness (Ill put it like that ). One thing is clear though (to me anyway), Floyd doesn't have a STYLE of boxing, like people like to say. Floyd is a combatant, with things in his arsenal to BEAT YOU, the opponent. Floyd is stronger than he looks, speed is always deceptive and he is powerful enough to make you change your mind about whatever it is youre doing that keeps making him dispense rights in your face. To beat Floyd, you have to know what beats you and fix it, while stepping up your own natural abilities to their highest level, but whatever your own weaknesses are, you MUST fix them to beat Floyd, whatever it is.
People have already answered. I will add, it will be much, much easier for us to see it due to the angle in which we are viewing the bout than it will for his opponent. I'm sure many a coach has seen this movement, but once in the ring, it looks entirely different due to the many other subtle movements going on. Example, I seen multiple times when Mayweather was preparing to throw the right against Guerrero. He just picks the perfect time to throw it.
He sort of sinks down and leans forward, putting his weight on his front foot, and usually lowers his gloves too. That's for the straight right. In recent fights he's also been using a sweeping right, and I haven't noticed any signal for that. He actually is in range when he leans forward like that. The deception isn't that he's out of range -- the point is that he's usually quick enough to use a pull counter or slip/roll the opponent's attack and then land his own. He either leans forward to bait them in this way, or does it to launch himself into a sudden straight right before weaving under the retaliation punch. If you're a good jabber, you can catch him by surprise when he leaves himself open like this, though: This content is protected
^^^This, but he doesn't always throw is when he does this. Sometimes it'll be a jab or sometimes he will just reset. Impossible to know if he is actually going to throw it or not.
in the words of charles ramsay, leaning forward...hmmmm.....dead giveaway http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwuiHJauQw0
It seems like it'd be easy to exploit but seriously no one is elite enough to have that sort of timing these days.
Thats because he is not fighting Elite fighters, his fans keep supporting his cherry picking ways and he is going to keep fighting guys like Guerrero as a result...
:rofl:rofl:rofl Gander's contribution to a Boxing discussion in steps... Step 1 : Wait for Bogatozo to post Step 2 : Agree with Bogo, and make it sound as if he had himself had the same assumption. Step 3 : Vigorously deny anything of the sort Step 4 : Make his own points, and thus re-confirm to everyone that he is a moron.
