History will not be nice to Floyd when its all said and done, and if he loses to Pac, my gawd, its a wrap for him.
The man after 47 fights doesn't even have a career defining fight! Why? Because up until Pac, he's had no legit challenges vs. legit, elite fighters around their prime. Its completely ridiculous.

I think at the end of the day, the word catchweight will affect pacs legacy especially since hes been in the ww division for 6 years...

And if he gets shut out by floyd, the whispers of "maybe pac isnt as good as people made him out to be" will always linger in the back of peoples minds.. well see in 1 week.

I think you're trying to devalue what he's been doing for the past 10 years or so.

I'm sorry, but I'm going to defend him in this situation. He hasn't been in his prime in almost 10 years now- usually boxers hit their peak/prime at 25-26 and it last until 29-31. So essentially since he came back to fight Marquez in 2009, he hasn't been in his prime.

I would've liked it if he stayed at JWW and beat the top guys there at the time in Hatton and Cotto, but the big money fights for him were at 147.

Can you really blame him for fighting Baldomir for his largest purse ever at the time (8 million,) and all those WW belts? Baldomir was the undisputed WW champion at the time, and he hadn't lost in about 7 years.

DO you blame him for securing his biggest purse against DLH at 154 and winning a lineal championship there? Or beating an undefeated Hatton who was universally considered a top 10 P4P fighter when they fought? Or how about Shane Mosley, a sure fire first ballot HOF'er who was coming off a destructive KO win over Tony Margarito. After his win, NO ONE thought floyd would fight him.

You know some of those guys you mentioned aren't that good now, but at the TIME floyd took them on, they were all riding some impressive winning streaks. It's not like they lost several fights and backed into a matchup with Mayweather. Each one of those guys you mentioned as weak fighters- Ortiz, Maidana, Guerrero, were all titleholders and at worst were considered top 3 in their division at the TIME.

So I'll help enlighten you some more- Since he fought DLH in his 5th weightclass and arguably at the time was starting to come down from his absolute peak- I have him fighting 6 HOF'ers or lock HOF'ers since 2007- DLH, Hatton, Marquez, Cotto, Mosley and now Pacman (Canelo looks like he's also on the trajectory of being a HOF'er but we'll wait and see on him.) DOn't make it seem like that cheater Margarito or Paul WIlliams are HOF bound fighters. I'm positive he wouldn't have gotten his just due if he fought and beat either of those guys (Margs is a slow plodding cheat and although he maybe would get some credit for WIlliams, detractors would probably start blabbing out that he was never that great since he got outboxed by 3 other guys handily in QUintana, Lara and Martinez.)

So if you consider that WEAK opposition since 2007, than you have an incredibly high standard for boxers and probably are only impressed by Ray Robinson, Sam Langford and Harry Greb's accomplishments.

There was more money to be made in the Margo fight than the Baldomir fight.

One thing that has stood out to me lately about people defending Paquiao's legacy if he loses is that Morales, Barrera and Marquez are the ones people bring up to protect Pac. If you look at it though, Pac lost the first Morales fight and after that he dragged morales down in weight anyways hes 2-1, against barrera he won both but against marquez it could be argued that hes 1-3 or 0-4. so against his best competition he's 6-2-1 and arguebly 4-5. if youre gonna count castillo and Maidana as losses for floyd then you gotta count the marquez fights as losses for pac (at least 2 of them)

Very true but Floyd would have had his ass handed to him by Margarito He stunk out the arena in the Baldomir fight folks were walking out by the ninth round

How is Enigma going to slate Margo for being slow-footed but not mention Maidana?

Floyd has a bit more at stake here, but neither man's legacy gets trashed with a loss here.
