Baldomir may have been rated there but every boxing fan had Cotto, Margorito and Mosley ahead of him De La Hoya was and still would be number 1 at Light Middle!
De La Hoya never was near the No.1 spot at LMW - only the blindfold would have him ranked that high...
He does not have 1 prime ATG on his record. Ali has loads, Liston, Frazier twice, Foreman etc. Enough said really
the Joe C mafia will get to you eventually, you cannot resist, you are powerless, do not fear the truth.
This content is protected The Golden Boy's target is a welterweight fight May 3, 2008, perhaps at Dodger Stadium. But against whom? We won't have a serious idea until after the Dec. 8 Floyd Mayweather-Ricky Hatton fight. If Hatton wins, take it to the bank that it'll be Hatton. Even if Hatton loses in a good performance, it could happen. But if Mayweather wins going away, as many expect, that is when it will become interesting. Will it be Miguel Cotto? Will it be a rematch with Mayweather? Will it be a dark horse such as Antonio Margarito? Only Oscar knows. Next: TBA. This content is protected This is from ESPN columnist Dan Rafael's column. Every month he ranks the top fighters from every division. This is from his November 2007 rankings. As you can see, Oscar is still number 1
Mayweather fought Baldomir in Nov. of 2006. Cotto made his WW debut in Dec. of 2006. Mosely didn't return to the division untill 2007. Any boxing fan who had two non WW's ahead of Baldomir in their WW rankings are stupid, and their opinon doesn't count. The only guy that could've been ranked ahead of Baldomir at the time was Margarito.
I'll admit, they do make a convincing argument. If he beats B-Hop, I may have to go over to the dark side, and admit his greatness
Rafael isn't credible...he isn't a real boxing expert but more of a boxing laity with connections to boxing promoters. Plus he is biased when it comes to American boxers...
Blaspemy! Rafael, is a great writer with tons of credibility. He knows what the hell he's talking about. I'll tell you what, since you think you know more than respected columnist Dan Rafael, you tell me who is the no.1 JMW. Go ahead, I dare you to say Corey Spinks.
Right, Spinks is the no.1 at 154 a this moment because of his fight vs. Taylor (though, it's funny to earn the 1st place in a division by having a good showing at a higher weigh class). But right behind Spinks I see Dzinziruk and Forrest , followed by DLH, then Alcine, Karmazin...
He may or may not really believe this statement he's made, but he's merely trying to get attetion for himself and his upcoming fight by being controversial and overly cocky. Its all PR.
