Floyd's simply saying something outrageous for reaction and results...regardless if he truly believes it or not, he is not better than Ali....but he's at least 10 times better than Hatton.

    and that's what matters...right here...right now.

If he'd beat Tyzu he would've had a better argument, but if he beats Ricky it will make his argument stronger.

I was actually half joking with that comment. I personally, don't like to compare guys from different eras. The dynamics of the sport have changed, and I find it useless. However, just watching Floyd, I don't see any significant weaknesses. Pretty much everything you would want out of a fighter he has. Stamina, defense, footwork, speed, he has it all. He punches effectively with both hands, he has a good jab, throws a good left hook, a good uppercut, and a great straight right. He works the body well, and is pretty much always in a position to throw a punch, and avoid a punch. He has great ring intilligence, is disciplined, trains hard, and listens to his corner. He may or may not be the best fighter of all time, but very rarely do you see a fighter with his skillset, discipline, and dedication.

At this point... there is nothing Floyd could do to surpass Robinson and many others.

Even if he absolutely wiped out WW...

Floyd said he respects the legends but you have to realize that he didnt give his whole life to the sport to say that some other fighter is better than him..just like Kobe will never say Jordan is better than him..You cant work your whole life at something to be considered # 2

I agree, Ali use to say it all the time, now he's considered the GREATEST. People said the same about Ali when he use to say it.

    **** FLOYD MAYWEATHER Jr.!!

    :good

How anyone can truly be a "fan" of such a human being is beyond comprehension:-(

All I gotta say is Floyd fans better STOP MAKING EXCUSES about how Floyd doesnt NEED to fight Cotto and The Winner of Williams vs Cintron.
There's guys from the past in EVERY WEIGHT CLASS PBF's been in, that would knock his ******ed ass out.

Ali, Robinson, Leonard, Hearns, Hagler, Duran, etc...They were the best because they fought the best. They didnt just fight fake beltholders. they fought ANYONE who was considered a threat. they didnt fight for money. they fought for glory and legendary status.

mayweather still has do a good amount before he can be considered in even the top 10 of all time. think about it. what prime star has mayweather ever faced besides Corrales and Castillo. More so, what good competition has he faced since he has moved to 140 and up. I dont want to hear about all the belts he has gotten b/c the title holders he took them from were nothing great.

I believe he needs to clean out the WW division to be connsidered great. buy clean it out, i dont mean he needs to fight the winner between williams/kermit/cotto/margarito. I believe he needs to fight at least 2 or 3 out of the 4. If he can pass that test, then he can fight a true champion in a higher weight division.

If he can do this, then he can consider himself in the top 5. Let's forget about his skill and potential. Greatness is measured by accomplishments, not what we think he can accomplish.

Honest, for Floyd to be conisered in the top 5 of all time, he wouldnt even have to win all of those fights I mentioned above. Of course, he would have to win the majority. It's all about showing a good account of yourself against the best possible opposition of your era. Floyd simply has not come close to doing that since stepping to 140 and up.

Can he do it? Sure, why not. Even the biggest floyd hater will not doubt his skills. The difference between floyd haters and lovers is that the haters are realistic. They just want him to fight the best before claiming to be the best. None of them doubt his skills. the "extreme" lovers tend to believe he has cemented his legacy by winning these overrated titles and getting paid.
