Actually you're the one making a false equivalency between the Shane that fought Floyd (whom recently had been observed in elite form against Margarito) and the Shane that fought Manny (for whom there was no such recent demonstration of even decent form; he looked woeful in the draw with Mora, so much so that many people even thought he got a gift, loathe as they were to admit it with Shane being everyone's darling and the Latin Snake being as close to a universally derided, classic mustachio-twirling villain as boxing has ever had...)
I always thought the Shane fight didn't happen because he was chasing the cashcow aka DLH...as a result he moved into a weight class he didn't belong Forrest then Winky. as far as DLH ..IMO he fought the best whenever, so I'm not sure why it didn't get made earlier, but Floyd I thought did choose to fight DLH at Oscar's preferred weight and not a drained fishnet weight as with Pac
Do you think you're putting too much stock in 1 performance against Margarito? Perhaps I did make a false equivalency regarding the versions of Mosley Pac and FMJ fought. Yet my broader point is I perceive you to be making an equivalency to 2000 Mosley to 2010 Mosley. And I passionately disagree with that.
How can anybody take this TBE stuff seriously? Did Hagler not just destroy Hearns? Did Ali not stop Foreman? Did RJJ not shut out Toney? Did Duran not move up and beat SRL? How can any boxing historian acknowledge those past fights and not laugh at FMJ for calling himself TBE. Look at those victories from past fighters.
I hear you and acknowledge that. Now I have a question is the 2010 version of Mosley as good as the 2000 version?
Another great point. Arum had no interest in making the oscar fight. It was one of the reasons why he left arum.
He didnt duck pac thats the biggest myth in boxing pac ducked drug testing and ran off to fight clottey. Roach had already admitted this years ago in a video posted numerous times here.
Irrelevant Pbf was fighting at 130 in 2000 and mosely had no interest in fighting him. He wanted the cash cow oscar.
It's relevant because Floyd fought the 2010 version not the 2000 version. To suggest that Floyd beat a prime Mosley is absurd. You've never claimed that so I give you credit for that. You can say that Mosley chased DLH and decline FMJ. That's a proper debate to have. But these Floyd fans who drool on FMJ for beating a past prime Mosley abd act like it was vintage Mosley. Its astonishing, its absurd.
2000 version of Shane was a WELTERWEIGHT. 2000 version of Floyd was a SUPER FEATHERWEIGHT. 3 divisions south. Acknowledge THAT.
