People don't get the concept of lineal.

It's a mythically bestowed title with little relevance in the modern era.

Floyd's victory over bald will trace back to mosley's over oscar but since he retired, who decides who the so called lineal champ is?

By what criteria is a new champ crowned? Because looking through history there's many different ways a claim was created and until those claims got unified there wasn't really any one champion.

An example of complete unification is tyson against spinks and lewis against holyfield. In complete claim unification fights you can determine the legitimate winner as a legitimate champion and until that point it's all guess work and speculation.

I'd say that right now floyd is the best ww in the world based on his victory over ortiz combined with pac's (by my cards) draw with marquez. Not because of a wbc belt or a lineal belt but because floyd is, imo, the best out there.

There you go with this bull**** again.

Shannon Briggs did not need to be the "best heavyweight" in the world to be The Man in the division. Being the "best heavyweight" in the world is *completely subjective*. Being The Man in the division is NOT.

Now, here is how it goes since you seem to keep forgetting.

Spinks beats Holmes which makes Spinks The Man @ HW
    Tyson beats Spinks
    Douglas beats Tyson
    Holyfield beats Douglas
    Bowe beats Holyfield
    Holyfield beats Bowe
    Moorer beats Holyfield
    Foreman beats Moorer
Briggs beats Foreman which makes Briggs The Man @ HW.

Briggs was The Man @ HW and this FACT is not up for debate.

Being the so-called "best heavyweight" in the world is *completely subjective* and has absolute **** to do with being The Man in the division.

    1 + 1 = 2

You really need to stop with your foolishness...

Haha you mong that is completely the point as you say the man isn't always the best which begs the question "what is the worth of being the man"

    Fyi it's totally subjective.

Did you think spinks won the rematch with larry?

Did you think moorer beat holyfield?

Did you think foreman beat schulz?

Did you think briggs beat foreman?

If you believe in the sanctity of judges decisions and have no wish to dispute their authority i'd completely agree.

However I like to judge fights myself and make my own judgement.

Especially in the lower weight divisions like lightheavyweight for example, some lineal champs lost pretty much every fight and just didn't put their belt on the line.

Actually No, it's not. There is nothing subjective about being The Man in the division. Nothing @ all.

What does any of this have to do with the price of tea in China? Judging a fight is subjective, no question there. That said, whether we agree with the decision or not, those are the official results and we have to live with them. Your opinion of who won what fight means less than **** as does your opinion of who the "best fighter" in a given division is...

You are free to judge fights and make your own judgement.

Unfortunately, your judgement means less than dick. There are three and only three official judges for a fight and we have to live with their decisions - good, bad and in between.

So it's subjective without being subjective

The thing is, we don't have to live with anything.

I'll ask again, to you what is the value of being "the man" (your definition of the current lineal champ)

The value in being The Man is that in order to be The Man you have to BEAT The Man.

Something that neither Klitschko has managed to do in their whole career.

And there is nothing subjective about that, Genius...

Well who can someone beat the man in a division where there is no man?

Also, what is the value in being the man? What is it worth? How should the man be viewed?

It sounds entirely subjective to me: how is a man determined in the hw division giving that lewis has retired? Should one wait for him to return so they can defeat him.

Do you think you can muster up enough live brain cells to ask a coherent question?

    I'll try.

How does one become the man in a division where the previous man retired?

Ok I'm not going to read anything, but let me add that the fighter makes the belt, but the lineal title is the most legit belt with the Ring being a close second. If there was only one belt per weight class, the lineal belt kinda shows who that champion would be.
Sometimes the champion isn't always the best fighter of course, but it still makes him the champ.
To say winning a vacant WBC belt or beating that Ukrainan guy at WW for the WBA is as significant as winning the lineal belt, then you are mistaken
