I can see Floyd winning because,,,he is smart enough. He could win looking bad, maybe the only way. By keeping Pea at the end of his punches, not really landing, his speed could edge enough rounds for the win. If he keeps it closer though Pea would peck him endlessly while getting hit very little for a close win.
Certainly your not comparing Chavez a bodypunching straight a head bruiser to the quickness and boxing ability to Mayweather's,if you are you deffinetly a true fanboy.
Chavez had one of the most accurate lead right hands, from any range, of any fighter in modern boxing history. I don't think he's comparing the two stylistically, but given that both excel with that punch, and Chavez found no home for it, it's justifiable to bring it up. The speed probably did have a bit to do with it, though, given that Whitaker was often tagged and even hurt at other times in his career by good right hand punchers who were quicker off the draw and rangier than Chavez (Mayweather, Pendleton, McGirt, etc.)
I forgot how good,McGirt fought against Whitaker, but Mayweather would find a home for it,i dont know if he would hurt him with it,he dosent have the power his uncle,Pendleton, and McGirt has,but i do think that he would land it,more than a few times, plus Mayweather has a much longer reach than Chavez another factor to think about.
I find it funny how everyone still loves to pick apart mayweather's resume and claim pernell whitaker as a top 10 all time great. Pernell's best wins are mcgirt, vazquez, featherweight nelson and the draw with chavez. Those are his best wins. If Mayweather beats pac like i know he will, that should finally put him over the top and history will remember him as a greater fighter than whitaker.
This, though on reflection McGirt's right hand might have been more relevant. But yeah, Chavez' right hand was truly superb.
