This is mostly true. Broner just ain't that good and has raised Maidana's stock probably a tad too high even with Garcia in his corner.
What? The decision wasn't dubious at all. :blood Score cards were fairly close which reflected the fight very well. Khan definitely bested Maidana that night, even if it was a very competitive affair.
Maidana won't stand a chance, but unlike Khan, who will get KO'ed, Maidana at least has done something recently to deserve it.
Fight was great but really Broner was unproven and the only thing this fight and the one against Malignaggi showed was that Broner is no where near Mayweather. Maidana lost to Khan, Kotelnik and he lost to Alexander. Mayweather will beat Maidana in a one sided dull fight.
Well people are in here talking about "Khan beat Maidana" - and I didn't see that fight. I saw a fight where I thought Maidana did enough to win. Was it close? Yes. Did Khan do enough to win? IMO, no..
I actually think Amir "glass jawed fraud" khan has a chance to win a few rounds against floyd , but I don't thing maidana would lay a glove on floyd.
Maidana won maybe four rounds, might have earned a 10-8, got a point deduction, and got knocked down.
In truth Maidana has earned it much more than khan. Even in the Khan vs Maidana fight, khan won on points in a boxing match but in the primal sense of a fight Maidana won. The problem is style wise khan creates a lot more problems for Mayweather than Maidana does, so in all honestly I would still rather see that fight.
Khan is an intteresting fight for me, but a lot of people are going to miss that fight. Fighting Maidana off this win is a much better option. He can market it as a revenge fight, hype it up like he took it personal that he beat his protege. And the casual fan right now probably thinks that Maidana is some killer. On top of that he'll have a chance to unify belts. I think this fight gets made, and honestly Maidana is tailor made for Floyd. But to the casual fan right now, he has a shot which means $$$$
