Mayweather/McGregor Fight Discussion

I hate to say it because Floyd is an ass, but once you get past his counterpunching, his defense, his movement and his outstanding stamina his last line of defense is the fact that he's actually really effing tough. The man can take a shot, that's well proven. He doesn't get flustered after taking a shot either. This reduces Connors "punchers chance" to the same realm of likelihood as winning the lottery twice or Steven Avery being factually innocent.

Floyd is going to stink the joint out and try to make it a little more entertaining by clowning McGregor the way he clowned Berto, but it'll just look like a time wasting freakshow.

 

This is going to be worse then the ass whooping Floyd put on Arturo gatti who compared to McGregor was an outstanding boxer

 

anything is possible in this fight except connor winning maybe they will allow props in the ring......

 

Like the Hatton fight but with even less boxing. If this kid can box I have yet to find evidence on film.

 

He'll carry him but not give him free open shots. Maybe rope a dope a bit.

 

I don't think anyone denies that MMA as a whole lags behind boxing and even kickboxing as far as stand up technique is concerned, it's definitely improving at a rapid rate from what it used to be though. Still... Getting caught up in the whole "boxing vs. MMA" mentality on either side is incredibly childish.

You mean Sylvia? Yeah he was foolish to try and stand with Mercer. But he pretty much fed him that KO by going for that stupid low kick which left him wide open for that right hand. In his previous venture into MMA he was EASILY submitted by the very poor Kimbo Slice. No boxer could have any extended long term success in MMA without fully dedicating themselves to the sport... End of discussion. MMA is a lot more complex than people like you make it out to be.

 

mcgregor doesn't have the kind of scary power the UFC wants you to believe. In Mma a flash knockdown is an automatic KO. None of the guys McGregor knocked out were hurt badly on their feet just got momentary stunned and the finished off with hammer fists on the ground

 

It will sell. Never underestimate the stupidity of the general public... Unfortunately many fans within the sport will foolishly buy it due to their silly TMT/FMJ loyalty bs.

 

Flash knockdowns aren't automatic KO's.... Not true even in the slightest. Flash KO's Like Roy Nelson vs. Mark Hunt or Johny Hendricks vs. Jon Fitch and Martin Kampmann where they could maybe recover from if given a count. Yeah those might not be outright stoppages in boxing.

 

They're automatic Kos when a naturally bigger guy can just lay on top of him and hammer his head ala mcgregor/Aldo
