No where does it say you score points for "ring generalship" as you put it,so you must be screwing up the sport huh?? I agree he didn't "run" too much in that fight though. Its that part that let Oscar hit him as much as he got hit himself. Both landed power shots but some think it was only Oscar getting hit? Fighting off the ropes is a form of controlling the fight?? controlled by whom?? the guy with his back to the ropes or the one who put him there?? 3 ringside judges had it so close that it could have gone either way....i go by what they came up with all the same....Maybe you should go teach them how to score and interpret things the way you do .
Wrong again dumbass http://pro-boxing.suite101.com/article.cfm/how_to_score_a_professional_boxing_match Learn the rules before you try and get into boxing *head pat* Oscar only landed 20% of his punches. And Floyd landed nearly double the amount that Oscar did. If a guy leads a man to the ropes and does this to him This content is protected He generally gets the nod Floyd from rounds 8-12 spent very little time on the ropes. As to why he was able to pump jabs into Oscars belly and get him with over hand rights at will. 2 of the judges had Floyd winning by 2 rounds. 1 judge who Max kellerman immediately after the fight said should never be allowed to judge a fight again, had Floyd losing. That is the dumbassery I am talking about. Any objective person who knows how to score a boxing match knows Floyd won that fight clearly. Hell Lampley, Steward and Merchant had Floyd winning the fight before the 12th round was even over. "Cinco de mayo is now Floyd Mayweather" - Larry Merchant
It's easy to remember how fights are supposed to be scored: Clean punching, Effective aggressiveness, Ring generalship. You obviously don't know **** about boxing.
I misunderstood the "ring generalship" term.(my mistake)..... which leads back to "controlling the fight" which has everything to do with interpreting the fight as it unfolds. Thanks for schooling me up on this aspect. I appreciate it.
They fight different styles. Manny knocked Hatton out so quick because his style of boxing is so ferocious, aggressive and violent. Mayweahter likes to take his time and slowly pick opponents apart. Hatton couldn't deal with Pacquiao's speed and ferocity - that means NOTHING in terms of whether Mayweather will be able to or not because Mayweather it didn't take 10 rounds to knock Hatton out because he couldn't cope with Hatton's offense.
Be as it may, Floyd did not domainte Oscar. You could give each of the rounds to Floyd but those rounds were close no one can deny that.
The versions Manny fought seemed to have lost a lot more then when Floyd fought them......Ricky was never the same after the PBF fight he became a little gun shy and switching to Floyd Sr so late in the game was a big mistake Oscar fought Floyd at his more natural weight and he fought Manny at his previous natural but now his unnatural weight....just being honest and im actually more of a PAC fan
Theres one very valid point which underlies this discussion and the Original poster alluded to it. Floyd mayweather was hit clean by both hatton and oscar more than is common knowledge. The punch stats dont effectively show clean connects. Ive just watched a few rounds of mayweather-Baldo in slow mo and floyd actually lands very little in the rounds even though he wins them handidly. Im going to watch the oscar and hatton fights in this way as well. Mayweather is also clocked clean against baldo several times in the fight. Pacquiao on the other hand has developed a different type of elusiveness one which requires more energy than floyd but it is equally as effective. I watched the hatton pacquiao fight completely in slo mo and found that, pacquiao appeared buzzed or stunned (facial expressions) on a number of occasions and also he could virtually read hatton like an open book. I also found a new fighting style pacquiao has developed which is extremely unique to him and is very effective. He basically goes into a semi crouch position with his hands low and moves his head forward and presents an opponent target to his opponent. However because hes so fast and has very good balance now he can counter off the back foot. Against diaz and hatton he was able to do this repeatedly. Add all the above up and in my opinion maweather vs pacquiao is not only going to be FOTC material but we may get a trilogy.
Hatton didn't fight Pac the way fought Floyd. Ricky wasn't wandering around the ring with his hands by his balls against Mayweather.
atsch after three or four rounds, if your body doesnt have water in it, if your dehydrated the way Oscar was its going to effect him from the opening bell your sorry ass attempt to re phrase it and argue after three or four rounds Show exactly how ****ing ******ed you are to this game and how little you know about this sport. Lets be real your a ******* trying to sound like you know what your talking about, Here is something for you, A shot Erik Morales beat Manny Pac made him Cry:yep
ODH focused on cutting weight rather than training more. He made the limit days before the fight, he just could not fit well on WW with his age. Q: was Morales (28) a shot fighter when he fought vs Pacquiao (26)?
