I am being specific. The drill work is to improve reflexes. The sight and feel of a particular action forces you to respond in a particular fashion. It's no longer "thinking", it just pure reaction. You do anything enough times, you're brain becomes trained in such a way that you no longer need to think about the action, you just do.
I doubt it , you need some time a guide line to go buy .. sparring is a way to practice what you learned on the mits.
I do not have any footage of Trinidad, but if you have the Hopkins fight you can see him doing some work on the mits just before the fight, it is very impressive. I found something of Vargas and Mosley, that is classic mit work, technique with power, they hit the mits with full impact. You can throw a hard jab on the mits just like you do it in a fight or in sparring. That being said I do not want to critizise any guys who work differently on the mits. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yieoRohJbfg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPnHMD-xLZo
alot of talk about "pad work" Pad work can work anything you want it to, power, balance, focus etc Most use it for technic training.....to work on balance and putting combos together.
That is exactly the point.. the mitwork that Roger is employing on the tape is purely a drill to make Floyd, or whoever stay sharp and lookout for certain moves while staying focussed on tapping away as if flurrying.. It is great for staying ring sharp , but nothing like a accuracy / power mitt workout.. They are like night and day.. God bless.
wow you really are as dumb as i thought, what you said makes no sense, you just used words such as vo2 max and boxing and combined it together to form a sentence vo2 max intake is increased with any high intense activity whether it is hitting the pads, running, swimming what ever.... what you're talking about is muscle memory where you practice something over and over again till it becomes second nature. so what does that have to do with vo2 max? do you even know what vo2 max is?:rofl whats the difference between boxing specific stamina and any other stamina? stamina is stamina whether you gain it from running or hitting bag/pads, most old time fighters didn't even hit the pads and they went 15 rounds no problem.
