Have you actually watched these fights? Something tells me you haven't because but for Duran, De Jesus would be a household name today.

This is a list compiled by the IBOC (International Boxing Research Organization) as of 2005. As you can see De Jesus isn't far off from making the top 20 list and but for Duran I think he would have.

    Henry Armstrong
    Tony Canzoneri

What's also worth noting is that a 37 year old Duran beat the guy (Barkley) who beat Hearns twice. Also worth noting is Duran lasted longer against Hagler (going the distance) than Hearns did.

Funny that you neglect to mention Duran's fight against Hearns.

    Mentioned it ??

there was a video of it above my response Einstein :nut.

And anyway, losing to Hearns is nothing to be ashamed of, he was a hell of a fighter and would easily be on top of the welterweight division today if he was in his prime.

Why try to use Hearns as an example as to how good Duran was by showing that Duran fared better in his fights against Barkley and Hagler when Hearns faced Duran and put him in a comatose state? By the way, I don't have access to the video but the point still remains.

Alot of things are notable, but if you know boxing you know its a style sport.
Murderous punchers are Hearns kryptonite, but Duran salivates at the thought of one of these slower guys up against him.

A speedy elusive fighter is'nt so cut and dry for Duran.

Can Mayweather handle a skilled feroucious fighter like Duran?
Who the hell knows, he's never been in any hurry to face any of the top cogs in boxing. With Mayweather its always been walking the path of least resistance and his legacy with the real boxing historians will suffer for it.

Which I'd seen Mayweather against better quality opposition in their prime, but as it stands right now, I'll take Duran to punish his skinny midsection and take him out late in the fight.

It would take an extremely motivated Duran to do it though.
A motivated Duran like the one that was possesed vs Leonard in Montreal I dont think would get sidetracked by Mayweather.

What else is he suppose to say? BTW I agree with him and would pick PBF over Duran to. PBF is a bad match up for Duran.

It's a closer match than most would think. Floyd at 135 was a terrific fighter, and we all know what Duran brings at 135. I think Floyd would give Duran some problems, definitely.

I think Duran is a worse match up for PBF than the other way around. But since we'll never know they're always going to remain opinions.

Depends on what everything thinks, which differs among posters. I think it would a hell of a fight, but I also think somewhere along the line Duran would catch him and likely win by TKO, but it's certainly not guaranteed by any means. And those who use Duran's De Jesus loss to justify a PBF win are true idiots. For starters there styles couldn't be more different. And secondly Duran avenged that loss, not once but twice, both by KO. and thirdly it Duran was 72-1 before he lost his next fight.

Duran would eventually get to PBF at some point during the fight and most likely knock him out. PBF does not have the cojones to get in a ring with Manos de Piedra....

    Totally agreed with you here.....

Duran fought DeJesus twice after that and both times he KOed him, like you said.

Floyd senior is on crack. And I mean that literally.

With his solid defense, Floyd may be able to last 12 rounds (in a lopsided loss to Duran). In a 15 round fight, Duran by stoppage.

I noticed in these fantasy matchups people tend to point always the couple fights where floyd "struggled" and then point on duran,SRL,SRR,hearns, mosley,de la hoya, trinidad, whitaker, chavez etc.. Greatest perfomance.as evidence that floyd would lose.

And yes i would agree all these would probably beat floyd at his worst. While having best night of their career.
