Anybody else found it wierd that Floyd wasn't dissing Pac as much as he usually does with his opponents? The interviewer called Pac the best P4P and Floyd didn't really object to it and instead called himself the cash king. Call me naive, but I think I see a lil bit of respect shown here by Floyd towards Pac. I mean this is not the usual Floyd we see here, he'd usually diss any boxer anyone brings up in front of him. But here, it seems he's trying as much as possible to not hurl insults to Pac, but the interviewer keeps bringing Pac up.
Floyd's obsession with money really is pathetic. I greatly appreciate him as a boxer, but let's be honest, although he's the best, he's also pound for pound one of the least exciting fighters to watch. For the common fan that is. He still stutters like a little child falling over his frustrated words.
Mayweather always had respect for Pac, this shouldn't be anything new and he can be seen spotted in Pacquiao fights cheering him quite a lot too. It's obvious though that his return has Pacquiao written all over it, especially his choice of Marquez as an opponent and Marquez has been talking trash about Pac for a long time now so Pac fans might as well enjoy this fight. A fight with Pac is pretty much guaranteed in my opinion, all depends on how both do in their next fights.
Floyd is a great fighter but his attitude sucks. He didn't agree with the interviewer that Pacman was no1. He tried to make out that he still was and brought up Pacquiao's losses , which was a pathetic move. Pacquiao's early losses mean nothing to who he is now, and the only recent loss to Morales was avenged twice in spectacular fashion. Floyd's comeback should be all about his legacy as he's got all the money he could ever want.
Mayweather is proud man, he was #1 before and will always think of his self as #1 especially when the guy rated #1 right now has wins over two guys he already beat before. He won't change his opinion of his position till he's proven otherwise in the ring, not by commentators and journalists.
I think it was more ego than pride. He could have acknowledged pacman is the best in his absence and still alluded to the fact that he is better overall. I wouldn't have a problem with that. You can still be proud and show respect to another fighter's accomplishments and rightful position.
well, floyd did say he's fighting for checks and not bragging rights or legacy for that matter. he's definitely living up to his Money monicker. the only reason he came back is for the money and the most money he can get is a fight with pacquiao. he also admits that pac is the smaller guy and that's why he says pac has no chance against him.
With Floyd coming back you can see even the biggest boxing fans wondering who's #1 right now as it doesn't seem to be clear enough with his return announced, that's why people want to see the winner of this fight take on Pac so everyone can get a final answer. If fans think like that then do you expect Mayweather to come back and say "Yeah, Pac is #1 but we're fighting him soon baby!". Of course not, he will remain stubborn about his previous position till he's defeated and with his return being recent we can only wait and see if he will be defeated.
Fighting and beating Pac is not legacy, it's money, huh? Only the logical fan would judge properly. Pacquiao's decision to move up for DLH was obviously money as he DECLINED the fight when he wasn't getting the % he demanded till Oscar agreed, but no one seems to mention that because Pac didn't make it public enough or because there are too many idiots following boxing? As much as legacy matters these guys have done more than enough to secure a position already and are only doing more to add up to it. If money wasn't involved you think the sport would exist?, these are people too who want to secure their lives and their families'. Take money out of the sport and watch fighters rush out for another profession, would you go to your job if you didn't get the amount you deserved?, above all would you even WORK if there was no money involved or are you trying to hint to us that you're doing your thing for legacy and memorial? Some children here need to grow up. Margarito bragged so much about legacy and willing to fight for peanuts when legacy is involved yet when he got his first major win it was NO to all "legacy" fights and yes to money fights, no one mentioned that though despite him being proved a cheater to get where he did.
surely there is legacy for floyd if he beats pac aside from the BIg money a superfight of that magnitude entails. but it is floyd himself who already said that pac is the smaller guy and has no chance against him. so, is there legacy for floyd after actually admitting this? people will say that he beat a smaller guy and this idea actually came from him. same with jmm, pbf also admitted he's fighting a smaller guy. sounds like pbf is not after too much legacy after admitting that he's fighting 2 smaller guys.
HE hasn't said he won't fight Pacquaio, he's said Pacquaio needs to chase him and not the other way round. He's fighting the man who rightfully beat him twice anyway. Plus Roach has said they aren't sure they want Mayweather and Pacquaio's advisor said its a very hard fight for Pacquaio to take. What do you expect FMJ to do, beg for the fight or something?
I suppose Hagler doesn't have a legacy either then This is the first time above 130 Mayweather's faced a legit smaller guy, Hatton outweighed him on fight night by about 8lbs, Delahoya by 15lbs, Corrales by 15lbs, Castillo by 15lbs, Gatti by 15lbs
