Would have been competitive but the same outcome, especially when you consider back then Cotto was not as good of a defensive fighter as he is today. If you don't think Floyd's win over Cotto isn't his greatest accomplishment, fine. But every elite fighter in the sport has fought or will fight someone out of their prime. So does it really matter? Best thing to do is to hand out partial credit if not full.
Not true at all. This version of Cotto is much more mature and intelligent than the earlier Cotto. Cotto's approach and awareness in the ring didn't make things easy for Floyd. This version of Cotto was also tougher, I believe the pre-30 year old Cotto would of not be able to handle Floyd's punches(not saying Floyd is powerful) but it would of been most likely Cotto would of gave up his game plan due to Floyd's accurate countering and timing, young Cotto gets frustrated more easily and begins to tense. People need to stop underrating Cotto and Mayweather, it was a great fight.
Playing devil's advocate that really does not mean too much. There is much more that takes place than just calling out fighters.
4 years ago Mayweather was much quicker especially footspeed wise.....4 years ago art 147 with 8oz gloves Mayweather would have won with greater ease
That was in 2005 before Floyd was even a PPV attraction, and he hadn't moved up to 147. Once he moved up and fought Oscar, Shane was calling him out for years. Floyd avoided him and for good reason.
So Floyd was ready and willing and Shane wasn't interested because he wasn't a PPV attraction. And in your eyes, that's not a duck on Shane's part. Way to highlight your BIAS opinion. Floyd fought Shane after he came off one of the greatest wins of his career. The fight happened, Shane got schooled, its over and done. Quit bitchin' about old ****.
