It won't. Fighters will have to fight for the money that's available or get a day job. Simple as that. People aren't going to pay £15 every time there's a half decent (by that I mean a couple of British title fights) on a bill. This is gonna bomb, but it's not at a loss to Primetime. If they get more than a couple of thousand buys they'll make a profit because they'll do a ''per buy'' deal with HBO.
Its a great card,to say otherwise is nonsense but the problem here is if others look at what Sky are doing and now what Primetime is doing and follow suit. What if Arum takes Pacquiao to Primetime?Cotto/Margarito?Donaire? etc etc then fans of this sport in this country will be forking out a hell of a lot.
Well, since the UK fans are arguably the biggest Boxing fans out there, shouldn't we pay for PPV's like this if we have to? People are complaining about £15, but American's have to pay $49.99 (£30) for this, and they do this for fighters that aren't even American, and they still happily pay, so why can't we? You're right about not being used to it, but people should be able to. This is hardly a farce. That's true, but have his PPV's been upto the standards of the one on Sept 17th? I can't seem to remember so. This is a pretty good PPV and every fight on the card interests me, personally. People are just being stingy, in my opinion. When people pay for bull like Haye-Harrison, and complain about four excellent fights, then I just don't understand it, mate :?.
Maybe but this is Mayweather and if Khan could do pretty good buys against Judah at 4AM then im pretty sure Floyd can given the right publicity.
This is not a step forward. You will not get any casual fans buying this. They are relying heavily on hardcore support and a lot of the hardcore supporters will begrudge paying £15 for something they usually get as part of their sky subs. If they were to include Guerrero/Maidana as part of the package then i would be swayed but they are trying to find a market that just isn't there with this, its hard enough persuading people to part with money when British fighters are on and with constant sky sports news updates, how are they gonna advertise this? No HD as well, amateurs.
they say that laz,but before that that ***** diablo boy was tryingto play it down intially ,so think about it . If they werre serious and had this long term deal with GBP (like they keep implying) they would get it now as its wel ldocumented this is losing them some buys as folk refuse to pay for a crasppy below par bit rate SD stream . i know you wil lbuy the fights because your a khan fan ,and i respect your honesty .but you have to respect other people reasons for not buying it .
I dont think comparing to the US price is competely fair seeing as they will be seeing the fight at a reasonable time and in superior quality. I wonder how many PPVs HBO would sell if this was on at 4am with poor picture quality and Duke McKenzie commentating
Can someone tell me if you can record from Primetime to the Virgin V+ box??? Most PPVs I can't, which is annoying as I like to rewatch the fights the next day/week or whatever I'm not bothered about paying for the PPV, I only pay for Sky Sports when fights I fancy are on anyway and this will workout about the same
I will pay for it but I cant see the show being a big money maker for primetime.I hope they are better organised than for the Khan fight.
No not buying a PPV and watching a stream means Mayweather gets £8 less from his 40million payday. But I don't want to watch a low quality stream at about 10fps in low res on my monitor when I can watch it on a 50inch plasma
No way will i watch this on Primetime, their live feed on AK's last fight was one of the worst live events I have seen in a long time....!!
