Yep, we have to dig up the antique vault to see one, just like we have to do it to actually see his supposed foot speed.

In this thread, please focus on the styles match-up, rather than the physical side. Primarily, how Mayweather fights against southpaws and how Pacquiao fights defensive fighters.

    - Is Mayweather good enough to adjust to Pacquiao's southpaw stance?

    - If Mayweather fights agressively, as he tends to against southpaws, is he good enough to beat Pacquiao at his own game?

    - If Pacquiao is attacking a defensive minded Mayweather, does his stance negate the shell defence?

    - Is Pacquiao really open to the right hand?

Floyd loses for the following reasons:

    1. He only throws one punch at a time, never in combinations - You can't beat Pac with one punch , ask Clottey.

    2. He's overly defensive/protective of his chin - You can't have that mentality against pacquiao, you will be hit , and often. You have to be prepared to weather some storms and gain Pacquiao's respect.

    3. Floyd is hittable against left handed fighters - He squares himself up and stands in front of you rather then moving and giving angles. A no-no against Pacman. You need to give him movement or your gonna get run over.

    4. Floyd tends to fight aggressive against southpaws -Once again, another bad move , but of course he could end up changing his strategy if he fights Pacquiao.

    5. Floyd's chin is still a question mark - Many people will disaggree, but he's never proven to me he's got a chin that can take punishment. He's proven he can take a few flush shots, but never sustained damage. Pacquiao would test that chin.

    6. Age / Layoff's - Floyd is getting old, it's that simple. He's already 3-4 years past his prime in my opinion, and he's taken too many layoffs. The Ortiz fight will shed more light on this. But he'll be 35 soon, and this is around the time fighters really start to break down physically.

JMM [almost] beat Pacquiao with: movement + angles + combinations + controlling distance. Floyd knows how to control distance, but he has a habit of standing in front of you and inviting you in. That's not the right strategy against Pacquiao imo. He also never lets his hands go in combinations. You need to throw combinations against Pacquiao, or he's just gonna swarm you, it's that simple. You won't hold him off with one punch. Look at the Clottey fight or the Mosley fight for perfect examples. Floyd doesn't have the punching power to rely on one punch either.

Floyd biggest advantage in this fight is his reach. He's got several inches of reach over Pacquiao, and that will be difficult to overcome for any Mayweather opponent.

The way I see it, Pacquiao's offense is too unpredictable, too relentless, and Floyd is too defensive minded and too methodical in his punch output to deal with Pacman. He will lose by decision or late stoppage. I've said this ever since Pac moved up to lightweight and I've never changed my opinion. The Ortiz fight will give more clarity.

    1) Floyd actually came out using a high guard against Judah. Floyd did better than people think. He began countering Zab from the start of round 1. Zab arguably only won the first 2 rounds.

    2) The reason southpaws have a hard time dealing with educated pressure is because they train to maintain a bit of range between themselves and their opponents. If you look at manny, he can't fight inside for **** and works very hard at trying to put his opponents a little farther out. The southpaw stance is negated if you fight them at closer quarters.

A good southpaw should actually be able to fight going backwards for this very reason, intelligent opponents will try to apply pressure onto them. Look at Whitaker for example, he's someone who makes use of the southpaw stance to the fullest.

A great jab can be used to cover your AZZ and force emmanuel backwards straight onto the ropes. This is what the Mexican gangster Erik Morales used to punk emmanuel and put him in line.

    3) Shoulder rolling is still fairly easy to use on southpaws once you get the southpaw into the pocket because of how their shoulders square up inside cancelling their lefty angles.

Watch Floyd fight Corley, he continuously shoulder rolled Corley up close with great success.

    4) You don't have to use too much movement to defend against manny's offense. Marquez clowned with parrying, head movement, foot placement, and countering.

Floyd is a TRUE Slick Black American fighter and is still great at defending while being economical with how much movements he uses. He relies much more on parrying and head moving to defend against lefties. His gloves are there to catch like a baseball mitt, the left makes southpaw jabs useless, and the right blocks the southpaw str8. He can counter their right hook by pivoting and using the jab.
