It's not a bad fight in the sense that theirs a platform to build hype for it. Remember Paul is undefeated. And I know that means ****, but for the casual fans who make up a large portion of HUGE PPV events, they think it's the end all be all. And they'll play that card. Paul will get dominated and Floyd will get exactly what he expects....an easy payday, easy win and still ends up with that nice shiny (0). If it leads to a fight with Manny I'm all for this potential fight. PAC vs Shane is a decent fight. There's always a puncher's chance with Shane.....Paul unfortunately has NO chance in beating Floyd and I normally don't say that. But Paul isn't faster, stronger, smarter or more powerful. But it will take a little time for Floyd to figure Paul out...Paul is a good fighter....very solid, but he's just not on Floyd's level...Not even Close.
Goodness me, so now you're having a private conversation with someone else on a public forum? Coming from you - the man who apparently is all for "THE 3 D's" (Debate, Discussion and Dialogue) that's certainly ironic - I can't join the Debate, Discussion or Dialogue because I'm asking questions that are too hard for you? :yep So anyway, back to the question - how does fighting a 'tune up' against Spadafora guarantee Floyd will fight Pac next? There are still the issues of OSDT and the $100 million to be resolved - you think Floyd will suddenly back off on all that if he fights Spadafora?
I never said "Guarantee". I am simply saying....that I have no problems with this fight if it gets "us" closer to the FIGHT "WE" ALL WANNA SEE!!!! Can you or anyone else please explain to me...."WHAT IN THE HELL IS SO WRONG WITH THIS STATEMENT?" Is the HATE for Mayweather SO STRONG that not only will you refused to see any merit or validity in his career, but it also appears that you won't engage in a healthy debate with fans about him....That's kinda' sad. I can see if the up-coming fight (rumored) was a fight to cement legacy or to prove dominance. But IMO, it appears that this will get us closer to the "FIGHT WE ALL WANNA SEE!!!". Now if it turns out that Floyd will chicken-out after this and fight someone other than Pacquiao or doesn't fight Pacquiao AT ALL...I'll be the first to VILIFY him. (Something that I have done before, yet a certain poster NEVER bumps those threads). The point is....You think it's a bad fight, fine. But there have been Plenty of BOXING FANS (not just Floyd Fans) who have attempted the engage in "The 3 D's" as to why this is not a bad fight. Yet the same continues...."**** YOU", "YOU'RE A ***", "YOU'RE A RACIST", "HE'S PISSING ON YOU", BLAH BLAH BLAH.... You may as well close the thread if you don't want feedback or have no interest in discussing, debating or having "intelligent" dialogue about the Issue.
In terms of achievements, status, buying power, raw difficulty, and comparative difficulty by way of clash of opponents, i.e. factoring for style and physicality and so forth, Mosley for Pacquiao is a much much much more respectable opponent than Spadafora is for Mayweather. Equally, if Pacquiao's fight is to receive so much flak, why is Floyd given a pass for "just being in the ring"? Floyd has dug his own grave in being cast in the shadow by Pacquiao's achievements and the love of the media for him; he has said it explicitly, and is no longer clandestine about it; he is egocentric and fights for himself. Boxing is a one man sport in the ring, but you represent and provide a service to your fans-- or are supposed to. I aver Mayweather doesn't do that. Whether you do or do not agree, he has said openly that such is not in any way his priority. His behavior in the last few years also confirms this assessment.
To divagate a little: Additionally, if Floyd is held in such high esteem and still given the mythical #1 PFP status by some, and allowed to take on such a weak opponent, why are some opponents who do not have a choice of who they wish to fight due to a weak division given such flak for their utter, prolonged dominance? Enter the Klitschkos. Floyd here has a choice of who he faces; there is a breadth of depth between 140 to 154. CW? Heavyweight? Not exactly shining examples of fine boxing specimens. The Klitschkos fight the Sam Peters and so forth of the world because there are no Shane Mosleys, Timothy Bradleys, Amir Khans, Luis Collazos, Andre Bertos, Miguel Cottos, or others in terms of CW/HW equivelant. Floyd, on the other hand, has these names to choose from. And many, many more.
This just proves Pacquiao has now overtaken Floyd in terms of status. He is now regarded higher than Floyd and thus people expect more from him.
Did you hold as much hope for a fight vs Pacquaio when Floyd was preparing to fight Hatton, JMM and Mosley? Look at the criticism Manny copped for his last few fights: DLH - weight-drained Hatton - already ruined by Floyd Cotto - weight-drained Clottey - journeyman/unworthy opponent/didn't fight back/came to collect a pay cheque only Margarito - should never have been given an opportunity after handwrap scandal Add to these criticisms the allegations of PED use and claims that Manny is feasting on Floyd's leftovers. Look at how you're trying to absolve Floyd from fighting a nobody on todays WW scene by saying it's a tune up for Manny. Did you afford Manny the same respect when he was preparing to fight any of the above opponents? :hey Nope, you admitted earlier in this thread that you questioned and complained about some of Manny's recent opposition. Tell me who in the above list is a worse opponent than Spadafora is :deal You think trying to claim you're a fan of boxing now gets you out of being a **** in the past?
What are you 12? Is this a game of "My **** is bigger than your ****?" Seriously...let's be adult about this, shall we? I have only had two pieces of criticism of "Team Pacquiao". 1. When Mosley tried to negotiate a fight with Pacquiao (twice before) and Roach placed all of these ridiculous weight demands on Mosley. I thought that was a *****-Ass move. And most "Boxing Fans" (including Pac-Fans agree that asking Mosley to weight NO-LESS than 142lbs...IS JUST COMPLETELY NUTS!!!) 2. The Margarito Fight - How does a fighter with NO LICENSE get a fight with the #1 P4P fighter in the World? Now that was my criticism of "Team Pacquiao" (ROACH AND ARUM). Never had a problem with Pacquiao. Because I know Pacquiao will fight anyone. And as far as the previous Pacquiao fights you mentioned: I had NO Problems with the Hatton, Cotto or Clottey Fights. What other posters feel about those fights...has nothing to do with me. Now...it's painfully obvious that you have no intentions in "listening" to anyone's opinion about their thoughts on this (rumored) fight...especially if it differs from yours. And as a LONG TIME Boxing Fan, I have tried to explain MY OPINION as to why I don't think this is a BAD FIGHT!!! Floyd is not going after a Belt, Not trying to Cement Legacy nor trying to prove dominance. It is strictly a TUNE-UP that will hopefully get Boxing Fans Closer to the MEGA-FIGHT WE ALL HAVE BEEN WAITING TO SEE!!! If you don't like this explaination or my opinion...then we can disagree like adults...and move-on to the next topic, Right?
stalk: the act of following prey stealthily; a hunt for game carried on by following it stealthily or waiting in ambush You obviously dont know what stalking means and for someone with a career in journalism, you would think they know a simple term like that. So there you go and you're welcome...you IGNORANT JACKASS
Again...another piece of proof that you are just an immature kid, to think that there is only "one" version of a definition. And because you don't "fit that version" it no-longer pertains to you.:rofl Let me help you out (thanks to a couple of people with "Quick PM's" and sent me this definition perfectly for you Boom or shall I say El Indio).
