Who is that quote from? I'm looking in this thread and can't find it. If the bottom line is that we can't ever know the true PPV numbers for UFC events because they can't be independently verified, then this debate is pretty pointless. If it's left to Dana and his crew to tell us the numbers, there's always going to be suspicion that he's inflated the totals.
Well he has the money and the mouth, time to put them together. Rather than talking about what he's going to do, do it. The UFC puts on more shows with less viewers for each show, boxing puts on fewer big shows and gets more viewers for their biggest PPVs. Who cares? Is there a trophy in the balance here? Does how many people bought which PPV effect anybody here in any way? Right now MMA is getting less buys per show, but puts on a hell of a lot more shows and has a hell of a lot more non PPV shows that get millions more than any PPV. If boxing and MMA were both stocks for sale on a public exchange, I would be willing to bet that MMA would sell at a higher price; but who the **** cares? It's a bunch of large egos who can't play nice together talking ****, it has nothing to do with the sports. Why anybody here gives a **** is beyond me, its not like either sport is going to stop putting on fights in the near future or even the long future, both sports are great. Stupid ****ing arguments like this should just be thrown out on sight, it does nothing for the forum and is a trolls playground.
I think the people who are happy that Boxing out did the UFC are people who cannot stand Dana White. He's going to run his mouth about everything, put things like boxing down, and just plainly says stuff he shouldn't have. People here are just happy to see him eat crow. Of course some UFC fans are annoying saying UFC is better, blah, blah (you have boxing fans like this as well), and of course there going to be excited to see them eat crow as well. I'm not really biased against either...I just like to watch good athletes put on good fights. I'm more of a boxing fan, but will watch a GOOD MMA fight. If somebody likes MMA better then that's there business, but don't talk smack about boxing and expect people not to brag when something like this happens. Competition is a good thing, and forces eachother to put on better products anyways.....
Arum is a fool. White is a fool. They should be getting people into combat sports but they are in competition. Get people into combat sports and get boxers and MMA crossing over. Belfort in boxing would work, Vitali in K1 would work, Cintron in MMA would work. It would be a new challenge and interesting. This boxing MMA divide is doing my head in. It's combat baby. You got to appreciate it in all its forms.
When a bar gets an event, they pay more then an individual and I'm sure it factors into the numbers in the end. Not an exact. But you also have to take into account that those 100 people seeing it at the bar, aren't all there to see it and don't all give a **** about it.
