Mayweather will fight every welter except Cotto, until he's forced too

Nope, sorry, he's just like Calzaghe. When an undefeated fighter has a 0 on his record, he'll do everything in his power to protect it and he knows Cotto is dangerous and has the right style to beat him. He ain't stupid, he knows.

 

This guy is undefeated and to top that he's remained undefeated on the championship level. Its not like this guy is a 1-time champ or got fame off of one fight then quite the game. It takes alot to be an undefeated championship level fighter. He's done it and has been on top for many years. I respect that no matter who he fought, during the years someone shouldve been able to bump him off ... anyone and it doesn't matter what level they're on ... you fight so many fighters and sometimes it catches up with you.

 

He couldn't beat Cotto even if he was at his best. He's another cherrypicking Roy Jones Jr.

 

There's really nothing that dangerous about Cotto when it comes to PBF. He's a very easy fighter to figure out, has average at best defense, somehat chinny and he fights dumb(fails to clinc and retreats to the ropes abandons his gameplan body attack and easily frustrated when things aren't going his way). PBF would beat him by UD or late round TKO. He doesn't really do anything better than PBF and the only thing he has on him is power. He'll be sucker for PBF's straight right hand and have no answer for it.

 

Look, if Margo was able to find Cotto, what does everyone think a highly accurate, very quick hard hitting defensive wizard going to do?

 

Mayweather has made it clear that he will only fight the available fights that generate the most money. Cotto is not available right now, and i doubt he will ever fight him. The money would get in the way and Arum would rather make a Cotto vs Pac. The only thing we can hope for is when Cotto is released from Top Rank. Maybe then we will get what we want.

 

Exactly Margo was able to land on him like rain on a tin roof. And he's a slow handed plodder.:good

 

Cotto's best move would be to get away from that snake Arum and Top Rank. He should just buy himself out of his contract with Arum like PBF did.

I respectfully disagree with your dismissal of Cotto's ability to adapt and refocus gameplans. While he was not able to successfully impliment a plan B vs Margo he has in the past shown he can utilize his boxing skills to create some room for positive offensive production. It would be a close fight with PBF edging out becuase of his clean effective counters

 

I agree with half of your post, but Mayweather left a lot of unanswered questions. That is one of the reasons why fans attack him and criticize him.

 

Cotto could not even beat the skill less Margarito.

PBF would school Cotto and make him quit.

Agreed let's agree that Cotto is the superior boxer and puncher to Ricky Hatton......Still like Floyd though.

 

Margarito was able to find Cotto and get to him, but he had the resistance to take Cotto's punches. the thing is Cotto, Mosley, Clottey ect. all have a good chance bacause there all hard hitters with good speed. FM knows this and if he is fighting Marquez he probably figures its the leasr risk. if Marquez were a true welter FM would would have never took the Marquez fight.
